For Sale New Haven Winchester M70 Safari Express 416 Rem Mag 99.9% condition

Dear AH community:

Back in April, I located an un-fired (as advertised to me) and in new condition New Haven era M70 in 416 RM from a store in AZ that supposedly received close to 100 of these M70's in an estate sale (Pawn World). This is a highly sought after 6 digit G serial number rifle for those of you that are looking for this particular vintage. I took the rifle to Tip Burns in Canyon Lake TX and just received it this Friday after about a two month wait. He fully inspected the rifle and helped me to mount the new Trijicon 1-8x series Accupoint scope. Tip did a full cleaning, inspection job and confirmed that the factory bedding job was sufficient. Rifle is in 99.9% new and excellent shape. Tip Burns is the only person that I'm aware of that has fired this rifle to confirm 100 yard zero following the mounting job.

- I'm selling the rifle with or without the Accupoint scope. With the scope, Warne QD rings and mounts, I am asking for $4,000 even. This is the the true breakeven cost of what I paid for it. WithOUT the scope and rings, but with the Warne scope bases attached, I am looking for $2,750 firm. I am willing to ship with insurance but would ask for 50/50 split of the fees associated to do so. Rifle will come with the original box which includes the safety manual.

- I can meet FTF here in the greater San Antonio area or even in Austin at an FFL of your choosing. Zelle, Venmo or cash are preferred payment methods. Will consider personal checks but will have to wait for clearing funds before leaving my possession.

- There is one minor handling/safe mark down by the palm grip and I've highlighted this with it's own picture. No other blemishes, scratches etc.

- Bore is mirror bright and the crown is perfect. Rifle cycles extremely smoothly.

I like this rifle a lot and have come to understand it's following but this was admittedly a spur of the moment purchase when I saw an unfired New Haven M70 available. Maybe one of you M70 enthusiasts have a permanent well-deserved home for it.

Sir - If the buyer of the rifle does not want the scope, I may want the scope. Is it Duplex or triangle and what color is it? Thanx.

Nice rifle! It should be worth a couple hundred more just given Tip has laid hands on it. . I spent some time in his shop yesterday.

I have the same rifle. Same scope bases and rings and a 1-6 Tijicon.

Hi, it's a triangle post in red. I believe the options are more limited on the new 1-8x release from Trijicon. I'm glad I went with this reticle and like it a lot.

OK. If the scope becomes available and you want to give me a price, I'm all ears.

While I didn't expect this to fly off the shelf, the PMs and questions I received made me feel there was sufficient interest. Comparable LNIB New Haven M70s in this caliber are going for $3k to $3.5k elsewhere.

Let's adjust the asking price to $2500 from $2750 for the rifle itself under the same terms as above and see if we can get some more movement. My loss on the sales tax and delivery fees.

If you want the scope, great, I am still asking $1250 on it but really plan on keeping it anyways as it's going on the next rifle. No worries if you prefer just the bare rifle with bases - it's my preference too.

I checked and Cerakote has some nice stainless finish options.

Rifle is now also offered elsewhere. Appreciate all the feedback thus far.
