The largest caliber I own is a 375 H&H so not a big bore but being an avid reloader since the late 70's, my accuracy expectations are high. My 375 H&H hand loaded with Barnes 300 gr TSX bullets will clover leaf 3 rounds at 100 yards.
That level of accuracy is not necessarily needed for Buffalo...
Today, the taxidermy and getting it shipped to you is where you are going to spend a lot of money. I am done with the taxidermy unless I would decide to do a european mount. Today, photos are just fine for me and the memories.
You could easily do all you want on your list plus some for under...
This may sound bush league compared to what a lot of you put on your list but for me, I would love to get a huge Bushbuck. I was not successful in getting one on my first trip but only hunted them for one day near the end of our hunt. I just think they are really cool and one day will hopefully...
Thank you, @Velo Dog! Good information and that 27 with the 3 1/2 inch barrel is a good looking pistol and one that would be easy to carry. To carry mine in my Bianchi shoulder holster, the barrel end of the holster comes down to my belt line. Not the most comfortable thing to carry for long...
I would love to see Beretta take over Ruger and bring them back to what they once were.
I met a Ruger employee through a friend of mine back in the late 1970's who was at a higher management level for them and had been with the company for many, many years. I would venture to say that back...
@Velo Dog, That is some great information and I did not know there were that many variants of the Model 27, and probably many others as well back in the day. Thank you for taking the time to share this information.
This pistol I own was given to me by my dad and mom in about 1978. I was in high...
I have my 375 H&H zero'd at 100 yards using hand loaded Barnes 300 gr TSX bullets. That also means it is zero'd at 50 yards as well.
The scope on mine is a Leupold 3x9 and that is plenty at both ends for the caliber. I shot both a Cape Buffalo and a Crocodile with mine. The Crocodile was 65...
@Velo Dog, I have an early 70's Model 27 357 Mag like this but mine is the Nickel version and it is in a wood presentation case. I guess I never knew there was a 6 1/2' barrel version with the narrow tripper and wide hammer. Not sure what mine is, I guess I never had a reason to check it. I will...
