Reload with IMR 3031 and it will make a noticeable reduction in recoil. Works very well in 470NE
You don’t need max velocity either- A 500 gr bullet doesn’t have to go fast to kill an elephant!
Only you can answer if it’s worth it! If you are one who likes all the color variations, have a bunch of springbok, impala, etc then you probably want a Bontebok!
I’m more interested in the Big 5 and see much of the plains game as a fun bonus if the price is right and fits into the main target...

and the first option should have read-
30 or less (any elephant is worth a hunt )
But the edit option has a time limit!
The 80# thread is exciting for big Tuskers, but not realistic for most!

I’ve hunted white tails in Southern Arkansas and they are definitely jumpy. Now Kansas they are not nearly so spooky.
Coues deer in Arizona are really jumpy, but not so bad in Sonora.

I had the opposite experience than a few mentioned here. I hadn’t cared to hunt Elephant until I ran into a herd while on a Buffalo hunt in the Save Zimbabwe.
The sheer size of them, the vocalizations, the sense of danger being around them was incredible. My rifle definitely felt small...
