    Practice Rifle

I agree with the comments about developing 'muscle memory', but I think a better term is 'programming. In a stressful situation, you will default your programming. So anything that builds the right programs for the scenarios you may encounter is good. Live fire, dry fire, visualization, and...

    Reloading the 450 No 2

The book "Shooting the British Double Rifles" includes load data for the 450No2. The author stated that following loads "stood out" (in no particular order)... Reloader 15 @ 95 grains - with Dacron filler. H4381 @ 107 grains - with Dacron filler Reloader 25 @ 126 grains - no filler...

Yes I do know that already! I met Chris through Marty at Ben's Loans, and I met Marty through Rob the S&W guy - and we all went to Africa on our first safari together! Love to Diana as well! Chris is the human Wikipedia of gun knowledge. FYI, I bought a 1873 Springfield Trapdoor - when I...

    Reloading the 450 No 2

Thanks. Is just any 5/8 inch backer rod from a home improvement store? You said cut to length from top of the powder to base of the neck, so there is space between the top of the rod and base of the bullet? Re: reloading equipment - I've got a set of RCBS dies on the way. What press do...

    Reloading the 450 No 2

Thanks, I appreciate the specific info. The 450 No 2 has a huge case, so many (but not all) loads use 'filler' or wads. How thick should the wad be? And do you just press it down against the power charge? Or if using loose fill, do just fill case with Dacron fill? Sorry if these are...

    Reloading the 450 No 2

Hi, new to the forum. I have a W.J. Jeffrey 450 No 2 with 24 inch barrels and I'm about to start reloading for it. I've been reloading for several decades so I'm good on fundamentals, but am new to reloading large capacity double gun cartridges. My apologies if this has been covered in...

Thanks. I did try png, jpg, jpeg, (and tif, HEIC). The message I get for all of those file types is "The uploaded file was not an image as expected." The file was originally an HEIC taken with a iphone. I then used the 'Save as' to save the files in the other formats. Any ideas?

A short one - we were chasing an Eland I had hit. We were moving fast through the brush. Suddenly, there he was about 40 yds ahead of us. The Eland was standing under a small tree (the trunk was about 5 inches diameter), facing broadside, and looking right at us. In the shade of the tree...

New to the forum from Washington State. Love guns, shooting and hunting. The local hunting is not that great. I've made five trips to Africa, three were hunting safaris, two were for work. I absolutely love the place - it is magical for me. I'm approaching retirement and looking...
