My Rolex Submariner is my daily watch since 1986. Taking it on and off for airport security scans and the like is a pain. I try and travel as a "low value" target. I either wear a Marathon wrist watch (lightweight nylon case & cloth strap) or carry an old Russian mechanical pocket watch for all...
I disagree with your assumption on several levels. First, my direct correspondence with TSA where TSA clearly and unambiguously stated TSA locks are not to be used on firearms. Second, the plain language of the law is clear that only the passenger may have the key. Third, no legislator is going...
I just used the link to the CFR in the recent post re: the web site highlight saying you can use TSA locks on gun cases. Funny, their own link takes you to the site (and the law) that specifically says only the passenger can have the key.
So, I guess if there is any moral here it is that TSA...
FWIW: I asked TSA the question about TSA or non-TSA locks direct to TSA and their reply e-mail was specific - only the owner must have the key (no TSA locks). I saw the web site answer in this thread but the web site does not supercede the law. I'd rather deal with my plan than risk a TSA agent...
Yeah, a case that can't lock does not ship. That's why I use one of those gun cases that looks like a golf case for my luggage. If my gun case is disabled and can't be loaded I'm able to stuff the gun in my other hard side gun case luggage...and I pack a spare tumbler lock for that, too. I've...
I can never figure out why folks use TSA locks. Take a look at CFR 1540.111 which says: "(iv) The container in which it is carried is locked, and only the passenger retains the key or combination." So, I read that as no TSA locks. I carry a copy of that rule (and the rule that prohibits labeling...
I've put about 200 rounds through it - give or take. I shot mostly Hornady stuff through it, some Federal and I had one box of custom loaded rounds from some custom loading place out west. Frankly, I can't remember the last time I shot this gun but I'd bet I've not shot it in 3 or so years...
I was going to play around with reloading some 350 grain ballistic tipped boat tail TSX for this gun but just never got around to doing so. I'm not big into reloading so ... . The TSX needs to be at or above 1700 fps to work (at least according to the factory rep) and getting that at normal...
Funny you should ask that. I, too, wondered if sawing off 4 - 5 inches of bbl would make a big difference I did some web searching and ran into a discussion with one experienced hunter who said something to the effect (and I'm paraphrasing here) that he shortened his .416 Rigby barrel and the...
