6.5 Creedmore Magnum using Federal +Peak Technology

I have a Tikka in 6.5 creed. I have hunted Vaal and four tiny 10 with it. I enjoy the accuracy and lighter recoil and effective distance for smaller animals. I was really interested in the peak ammo. But tikka says its rifles can’t withstand the pressure. So at one level I’m glad I...

Small and fast or big and slow?

Well designed bullets at appropriate velocities placed in vital tissue kill animals. Poorly placed bullets in the wrong place produce problems. My daughters used a .243 with Barnes TTSX for one shot kills on zebra, wildebeest (she executed a crappy shot followed by a perfect shot), and two...

    Hunting Mozambique and Botswana

we flew into Joberg on 21 June 26 and drove to Kasane from the Limpopo. We purchased global rescue for medical but not political evacuation. I think it was $350 for my two daughters and my wife and me. I also purchased a travel insurance through GR for travel issues only--I used the cost of...

Where is the best steak (and why)

I have had a great steak at Don Shula’s in west palm in the early 2000’s. I had a great steak in Chicago in a hotel that had the top rated steak in Chicago that year (2001). We shared a fantastic steak in Aruba— dry aged 48 oz Tomahawk from Argentina But I would argue that my favorite...

The ultimate Elk Cartridge? - Does a Man-Bun make you more sensitive to recoil?

So, according to this logic bows don’t send arrows fast enough with enough damage? I have shot an elk with 7mm rem mag. But, last summer on a tiny ten specific hunt I took a kudu at 90 yards with a 6.5 creedmoor ELDX one shot. DRT My two youngest daughters two weeks ago shot two impala, a...

Biltong - who makes their own ??

I live in South Carolina--it feels like 100% humidity most days... I have a Benchfood dryer box and I have had great success with it. Toasting the coriander is the key to authentic taste in my opinion. I have used multiple cuts of beef and as others have stated I don't care for venison white...

New Declaration Required to Enter South Africa Complete Before Entry

I flew into JNB on 21 June and left 1 July 2026. I didnt have any form and there was no kiosk and there wasn’t anyone asking if we did. Last summer I filled it out on line the day before arrival to JNB but I was never asked for it.

Thoughts on Cape Buffalo under 40"

I spent a few days last week in Chobe National Park. I don't believe we saw a single bull that would go much over 40". But there were some truly amazing bulls that were no longer with cows that were amazing. I am not sure I would have measured any...but I surely would have pursued a few!

How many times to Africa before you get Leopard?

My first hunt was cut short by Covid. We spent three days before the alarm came out. I hunted three days in the blind for many hours. I returned dour months later and got him on the first sit. So the fourth day but there were two trips.
