I haven't had to follow up on anything yet. A fallow deer that was shot in the lungs and liver went a maximum of 50m. If I put the right thing in the right place, the 7x64 will fulfill its mission without any fuss. I've had a rifle in this caliber since 2016 and so far I've only had good...
This is my target from the Hikmicro shooting. It allows me to create multiple profiles and so I chose two bullets. Geco Plus 11g (170gr) for wild boars and Fox Bullets 8.4g (130gr) for foxes and jackals.
7x64 is pleasant to shoot and very effective caliber. I own 8x57JS in Zastava M70 and two 8x68S in Mannlicher-Schönauer GK and NO model. When I compare them the 7x64 has the most managable recoil. I am not reloading, using just factory ammunition. Nice and accurate rifle and caliber.
….full size photo, I did mistake when uploading….this is old Zeiss West Germany - Diavari 2,5-10x52 with Pard 007A, second photo is Hikmicro Day/Night Alpex 4K LRF for wild boar, fox and jackal night hunt.
Couple of photos from my last fallow deer hunt (02/2025) with Mannlicher Schönauer M72 in 7x64, 60cm length of barrel(23.6inch) and 22cm twist rate(8.66inch). I took this shot from approximate 180m(200yard) with Geco Plus 11g(170gr), measured approx. MV 842 m/s (2825 fps). Lungs and liver shot...
Thanks for pointing out the Norma brass. I will ask the current owner for his loading data and the performance he achieves. I've already found some freely available loading data on Norma's site. Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you for your reply and useful information. Night Force nxs riflescopes seem to be very durable and reliable. Combined with the QD Warne steel detachable mounts, it looks like a good combination. I'm looking forward to seeing the reaction from NZ. It reminded me of the times I spent in...

Thank you for your reply. I will use it with the original wooden stock at the beginning. I will probably have it professionally reinforced with a glass bedding. I have found the following powders in my nearest stores: Reload Swiss RS80, Vectan, Vihtavuori N560, Norma, Hodgdon.
Thank you for your advice and useful information. After your supportive comments I have definitely decided to buy it and give it some of the "treatments" you recommended. I've already read a lot of pros and cons about CZ 550 rifles, but with some of the modifications you recommended, I think...
The gentleman from whom I will buy it works in Belgium. He will be back at the end of March and I will pick up this rifle then. I am impatient....can't wait :A Thumbs Up: I'll upload some pics of the new queen of my gun safes.
