I am trying VERY hard to be done. I used to run the “one in one out” system. It worked great until now. Now I really like my small group of rifles and don’t want to let any of them go. Another factor that has made it easier is that I like to hunt with all my rifles. However where I live we don’t...
You and I think a lot alike! I’m also obsessed with hunting the ungulated. Could be because we’re both from Saskatchewan? lol. I enjoy pigs too. A bushpig would be high on my list if I ever get back to Africa. I really enjoy hunting black bears though. But I’m in the south of the province and...
I shot this moose with my .308 in a Browning BLR. First shot was around 100 yards. He ran 30 yards and stopped. He likely would have gone down there on his own but I hit him once more anyway. He tipped over onto his back on impact and was done.
My group that I grew up hunting moose with have killed 35 or 40 moose between us. I shot my first 9 with my 7mmRM and the last two with my .308. None went farther than 30 yards. My wife shot her only one with my 7mmRM as well. All of the others were .308s and .30-06s. One of my best friends is...
My three favourite hunts here at home are:
1). Whitetail
2). Mule Deer
3). Moose
These are the animals that I grew up hunting and and after 44 years of hunting them, I still love it more than anything. To me the various deer species are the most interesting game animals. I love elk as well but...

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen for the first 10 days I hunted him with my famous .308 Browning BLR. Then I had to go back to work. When I came back I decided to alternate between my two 7s until I either got him or ran out of days. Day 11 I used my 7mm-08 Browning X-bolt but he was a no-show. Day 12 (the...
Well I didn’t intentionally wait the extra three years, but you’re right. It did give him the opportunity to reach his full prime and made it so much more rewarding.
In 2022 I decided to hunt with my .243 and got a crack at this buck and missed. That night while laying in bed not being able to sleep I decided to take @Bob Nelson 35Whelen ’s advice and sell it!
I had no pics of him in 2023 but got one set of nighttime pics in 2024. This year he was back...
