350 grain TSX vs 400 grain TSX on Cape buffalo

For buffalo I prefer 400 grain bonded bullets...This is a Swift AF from one of the buff I shot in TZ: I'd probably opt for a 400 gr. NOSLER Partition or similar soft bullet for the leopard.

Thinking About Buying A Vintage Shotgun? Read This First

Thank you. These are not RARE guns and can be found browsing UK gun sites on the web. They are lightweight (sub 6 lbs.), very high quality (handmade) and very affordable - less than $2500 each... less than a low grade Parker or Fox in 16b or 20b. I think they would please any upland bird hunter...

Thinking About Buying A Vintage Shotgun? Read This First

True that there is no fixed date, but the BASC has promoted the switch to nontox and the movement is well underway. I think that all the Brit ammo makers are making and selling a sizeable amount of nontox loads and most new guns being offered as 'safe for steel'. Lead shot for game shooting is...

Thinking About Buying A Vintage Shotgun? Read This First

I have bought and imported a number of 'vintage' shotguns directly from the UK. I have a trusted UK dealer that inspects the gun prior to my commitment to buy. Most UK dealers will send the gun that you are interested in buying to a UK person/firm to inspect for you and the cost is nil to very...

    Arizona Toddler bitten by Rattlesnake

A couple years ago a young girl in Nogale, AZ was bitten by a mojave in her yard while playing. I do not know whether she survived the incident. We have about 11 species of rattlers where I live in Southeastern AZ.

    Thoughts on Craig Boddington?

Trying to turn something you love into a bread and butter living is often problematic. I have seen it with a couple of 'Outdoor Writers' among my friends - both of them intelligent and literate men.

    M70 , 1958 375hh value

That’s not factory work, but the stock looks well done. Stop worrying about what you paid for it… likely that your local appraisal is way off the mark… and it’s done. Enjoy it.

Sideclips or not on double rifles..do they matter much..?

They can be dangerous as well. I've seen some side clips that were SHARP. I do not agree that there is a lot of added strength due to a 'third bite'. The real strength is in the Purdey double under lug. Look at most Best Guns... they have no third bite, it's a relic of 19th century marketing...

    375 test run

You needn't chase velocity when loading for buffalo. With softs, velocity does not get you better penetration... just more recoil. In fact, Kevin Robertson recommends down loading the 375 H&H to around 2400 fps to ensure that there are no passthroughs when shooting buffalo. He also says slower...

Want to buy reloading press and dies- Advice needed

I have used my RCBS RockChucker Supreme press for years to load everything from 22-250 to 404 Jeffery. Excellent press for any loader. Go for it, and invest in several loading manuals. Nosler's is one of the best, but buy manuals from several manufacturers.

    9.3 partition performance

Designed for initial shock and expansion followed by good penetration. Exactly what John Nosler was looking for. They are a great game bullet. For really heavy animals I like the Swift A Frame, otherwise the Nosler Partition gets my vote.
