How many .375 H&H's and/or .416's do you own and shoot?

It’s a fine mental illness to have. Two 375 H&Hs… Rigby Big Game, Mauser M03 Two 416 Rigbys.. Rigby Big Game, CZ Two 458 Lotts… Another Mauser M03, Blaser R8

    Blaser R8 in 458 Lott

Hi Green Chile, Opinion of course, but I wouldn't open up your wood stock to accommodate a thicker barrel, just to take to Africa. The biggest matter is probably sheer weight, as guys above have pointed out. I'm thinking that you'll be much better off getting a heavy/steel receiver synthetic...

    Blaser R8 in 458 Lott

What scope do you use? I have the same setup, but also have a rather heavy low power Zeiss V8, that I’m a little concerned about rattling with Lott recoil. Thanks!

    2023 SCI Convention in Nashville

I know this thread is dated, so there is an update, which most everyone knows I’m sure….. Nashville for 10 more years. Indy (2026?) would have been very convenient, but deciding to stay in Nashville is a very good move. Keep hoping I’ll run into Carrie Underwood some year.

Why all the 6.5 Creedmoor Hate?

Saw that one. Went there to size up and order a Sporter, and they showed off that one (pretty sure) as well. Stunning work, as you’d expect. Maybe in the $45,000 range?

Oh, not rude at all! Very fine guns all around. You’ve got great taste!

Fresh From Germany: Mauser M98 125th Anniversary Cased Rifle in 8x57

Yeah, the “London Best” Rigbys are made around their own production actions (not from Mauser), I believe…

Fresh From Germany: Mauser M98 125th Anniversary Cased Rifle in 8x57

Was it/those on display at DSC and SCI by chance? If so, those are stunning, and the nice Blaser lady let me hold it…. Well done!

    Mauser 66

Had two, sold one. I’m not sure, but I think it was a very early model, as it didn’t have the bolt release button on the right side. Finally figured out (nothing about it in the manual) how to release the bolt with it extended, but what a pain. The 66 I kept of course has the button and is...

Need some knowledge on a Dakota

I’ve got a little of everything…. Blasers, Rigbys, Mausers new and old, pre 64s, Krieghoffs, a Purdey, Dakotas….eh, who cares. But mention them only to compare the Dakotas with the rest of the fleet. They are superb rifles, no question about it, and easily fit in with the rest. It’s been a...

OEM stocks cracking and or breaking

Hi Shootist, Mine’s in .416 and it seemed like the wood used was rather low grade. As a preemptive measure, I bought the MacMillan composite stock and it’s been a wonderful ever since. Giving up the wood before any real problems is pretty obsessive for sure, but now it’s a workhorse. FWIW.

    Show Us Your Highland Stalker

Went to London earlier this month to order a Purdey. Dropped in on Rigby to get a look at their operation. Craftsmen in the shop working hard, and a lady on a microscope looking device to do engraving. Marc Newton came out of his office to introduce himself, and it was nice to finally attach...

    Politics

Knowing several people who’ve worked as military attachés and now in the Dept of State gives a whole other perspective of things compared to what’s on TV. More than a few Gulf states especially, don’t like factions over there any more than we do. But, what’s given publicly for worldwide...
