Problems I have had reloading the 44 Remington Magnum

The necessity of using solid crimps and not using H110 for reduced loads has been common knowledge (and written in loading books) for probably the entirety of my reloading years since 1974 or so. I'm not sure how you missed it. I've loaded hot 45 Colt, 3 different 44 mags and 454 Casull without...

    Pay It Forward-Free

If the one is the extended ring, I'd like it. My No 1 needs two extended, and @odonata was nice enough to provide the first. Details upon confirmation. Whoops, looks like it's for the Leupold bases--can't use them.

    You don't need a scope--with five leaves it's probably good to 500m.

    "Plus Peak" ammunition by Federal

Just wait until they come out with the ,416 Rigby Plus Peak! Then they could also hot load the .460 Weatherby. 458 Lott?

    Big Bore Addiction Group

Don't forget about the 375 Flanged Magnum, a pretty aesthetic cartridge as long as you don't call it a 375 H&H Rimmed. I doubt few Americans know what flanged is, so it gives a romantic ring to it.

a few questions to the Alaska bear hunters and Alaska residents

Some good reading which will answer many of your questions: Alaska brown bear regulations Synopsis: brown bear hunting is common throughout the state, 1/year, residents over 60 get free licenses. Yes, Alaska is worth visiting even if you're not hunting. Spectacular scenery and a completely...

Pronghorn! Advice? Must have gear? Outfitters? Will be a rifle hunt

Mountain bike. Almost all mine (6-8?) were taken in Wyoming via mt. bike. It does require varied terrain though. Ride around, find goats, sneek, shoot, dress, and then drag it back to your bike for the ride out. And you can ride back to camp with a buck trussed up on your rear rack (beware...

    Brass & Bullet Clean Out

    I'd like a 50ct box of 375 H&H. I'll DM with particulars.

Ruger No 1 in .416 Rigby

Wasn't it already listed and sold here this morning?

    9.3x62

And then he compares it to a downloaded .375 H&H. Regardless of the 300 gr/2400 fps loaded by many companies, you can get 300s up to 2600 fps (per Nosler and Hodgdon). Equating a cartridge with 62 gr volume to one (of larger diameter) to 78-83 gr volume defies physics, assuming similar...

Do you ever buy a gun just to have fun with and practice with? I just did.

Yeah, two .375s, a Whitworth Mauser and a Ruger No. 1 (in 375 Flanged!). I don't plan to hunt Africa, and they're too heavy to lug around my mountains for deer and elk. And besides, I have a .270, .280 Ackley, 30-06, 8mm and 45-70 for hunting, all 1-3 pounds lighter. The 375s are just for fun.

Brilliant! Practice For A Charging Buffalo

I've hooked up bear targets to a fixed bicycle and a pulley system. Pull the rear tire off the rim and add rope. It's fun. Lots of guys got et on the first run. They got better.

Getting into the handgun hunting game. 500 S&W

I've used 270 hard cast for a spike elk at 25 yards (SBH). Dropped on the spot, bullet was underneath the skin on far side of shoulder shot. I think 245 gr remaining (Cast Performance WFN).

question on the physics of obturation

So it's calculated and not measured? I can't imagine how it would be measured (hence my question).
