The mere size of the bag indicates little as to a man's prowess as a hunter, and almost nothing as to the interest or value of his achievement.

I don't have a ton of experience with the various barrels in the R8. However, I can confirm my standard weight barrel in .375 shoots less that 1/2 in. at 100 yds off the bench with the right hand-load.
I would add that in the field I am much steadier with quad sticks than with a tripod...
I shot my buff broadside at about 50 yards with a .375 H&H using 350gr TSX. The buffalo dropped immediately. I had to reposition and then put 3 more in the spine at my PH’s direction. The bull never got up. The first shot disrupted both lungs and put a hole through the atria of the heart.
This old guy was taken 28 August 2024 near Musina in Limpopo. I used a Blaser R8 in .375 H&H with 350 gr. TSX bullets. Slightly quartering toward first shot to the shoulder at ~40 yds. dropped him straight down in his tracks. The bullet hammered both lungs and the upper section of the heart...
I have to add a vote for TSX. My PH advised TSX for any plains game and buffalo with the only exception of leopard over three trips. If loading your own, the 350 gr in a .375 H&H works great on buffalo.
I have to add a vote for the Leupold Duplex with the Firedot. The red dot draws you eye and attention to the impact point better that anything else I've used. I recently took my first Buffalo with that scope in a backlit situation. The Firedot made a precise first shot much easier.
In case anyone is interested in the exact length of the .375 350 gr TSX, here are photos the the bullet and the loaded cartridge. The cartridge overall length feeds and shoots very well in my rifle. Plenty of room for 59 gr. of IMR4320 without compressed load.
