Again, great hunt report. If one hunts long enough, sooner or later we find ourselves in a similar situation as you did with the Red HB. It is a BAD feeling. I know. A couple years ago, I had been tracking Gemsbok for three days without ever seeing one for more than a few seconds. Then on...
Well done Sir! Sounds like you had a grand time on Safari in Namibia. I love the terrain in Limpopo but am currently looking to book a Safari in North Eastern Namibia near the Etosha National Game Reserve for mainly some specific PG. The terrain where you hunted looks very flat. A lot like...
I met Don Jr at Shot Show in Vegas last year. He is an avid hunter and shooting sports enthusiast. But, I do not know how to contact him. I could invite my grand daughter. She is a RN in her mid 20's and a very experienced deer hunter and outdoors woman.
I finally got a chance to post picks of the 2nd Safari pair

Interested - I would like to hunt a Pronghorn if available and some hogs for sure. Birds sounds great as well. February is a good time of year that does not conflict with traditional fall hunts (Deer/Moose/Elk) and African Safaris in the Spring/Summer months.
Be sure to look at the dates for...
This week am reading "The Snowman of Zanzibar" by G D Wallis. He has a series of novels that all feature the same leading character and are all set in parts of Africa. This is my 3rd read of his books and have found them to be entertaining and written in such accurate terms that the reader is...
As a rule guns & ammo appreciate at a rate faster than Gold. It is true they are harder to monetize but are never worth zero. Honestly, I wish that somebody told me as a young man to go out and buy one gun per month as an investment. Some of the guns that I purchased for $500 a few years back...
Yeah, the arrival destination countries rules apply. My Delta agents in my local airport always seem to know this and do not try to have me put the ammo in the gun case.
RSA requires that the ammo be in a locked case separate from the firearms locked case. It can be then placed in your...
The first round placement is likely the most important variable but only assuming the hunter has already chosen an adequate cartridge/rifle combo. Bullet construction does matter but is much less of an issue as long as the shot is very well place. It becomes more important if the angle is less...
Pretty sure that for international to Joburg you will need the ammo in a separate locked container which can then be placed in your checked luggage or checked as a separate bag but not inside the gun case. For domestic flights the rules are different and ammo can be in the gun case.
