    Nyala finally arrived at home

Cheers, its really nice being able to kick back and watch the rugby with an nyala poking his head over your shoulder.... NZ probably isn't an obvious choice to get African work done, but Mark has a number of clients all over the world who send him their trophies due to the quality of his work...

    Nyala finally arrived at home

Thanks for that, Mark's work is pretty amazing. In all honesty I really agonised over the life-size/shoulder/wall pedestal decision but to my mind, if there was ever an animal that could justify a full mount purely based on looks, it would probably be an nyala. This combined with how the hunt...

    Nyala finally arrived at home

So after little more than 11 months since the fact, my nyala bull has finally made it to our place in New Zealand. Since childhood I had dreamed of chasing one of these majestic creatures and when eventually I knelt down beside him, running the long mane hairs through my fingers, only then did...

A pig in the hand....... a bushpig that is

Cheers for that, and likewise congrats on your pig! Have you decided on mount/pose yet? From what I have seen of Dennis's work on here I reckon your boar is in good hands! Be neat to see a pic or two...

A pig in the hand....... a bushpig that is

Thanks for that, I reckon it has come up really well. Mark had some photos taken of the nyala for his website and should get them back early next week. As soon as he sends them through I'll share them. Lets just say the bush pig is great, but the nyala is next level......

A pig in the hand....... a bushpig that is

So finally back from another great trip to SA and got the call to say both my bushpig and nyala were finished and ready for collection. Needless to say I am very happy with the work, Mark Walker and Big Game Artistry keep on doing what they do best....... Will post some pro pics on the...

What to do with your warthog?

Africa wouldn't be the same without the pigs and it's comforting to see that I'm not the only person with the dilemma on how to do them justice after the fact. The solution for both a shoulder and skull mount? Try get two the same!! The first was definitely older and having a broader...

A pig in the hand....... a bushpig that is

So, as I am just in the process of packing gear, sharpening broadheads and generally getting ready to head back to SA, I started casting my mind back to last year's hunt and thought I may recount a few interesting happenings. The full story of this hunt appeared in the last issue of Arrowhead...

    G'day from New Zealand

Cheers for that. Nathan is a well established authority on the art of long range and like you say has written some pretty interesting stuff. I do love my rifles, its just the bow thing is so addictive. The more you play with them the more you realise how much you have to learn!

    G'day from New Zealand

I have to admit that there is a little tension in our household during rugby season...... My wife wears a black jersey and........ well lets just say I wear green Hard to beat those mountains. Funny enough we just got washed out of our trip just north of Fox a few weeks back. Apparently 600mm...

    G'day from New Zealand

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Look forward to sharing and hearing from people with the same interests and passion... Despite how beautiful and rugged New Zealand is, its a long way from sitting round a fire under the African sky, listening to jackal and other critters in the night!!
