Just to be clear, this isn't a safety feature. The bolt doesn't "lock" open on the follower so you know you are empty. This is the bolt contacting the follower about 3/4 of an in inch and then gouging the follower with the bottom of the bolt. This takes metal off and creates a burr.
it's the gripping on the right hand. My shoulder is fine and the recoil isn't so bad as to make me want to flinch. I just need to grip the stock in a stronger fashion. The rest of the mechanics are good. I got it figured out by the end.
It just depends on the hunt. In Alaska and full rain every day or the jungles, wood can warp and hurt POI. So I think you need a gun or system for that and one where the weather is not going to harm a wood stock and you break out the pretty ones.
