Muzzle flash isn't too bad but the concussion can be savage. Good hearing protection is a must!

I have a contender in 45/70. This BFR is also 45/70.

No wrist brace but for some of the really severe kickers I wear wheelchair gloves that have thin pieces of gell foam over contact points. Grip shape and angle matters a lot. the .400 H&H is worse than my .416 Ruger because I can only fit 3 fingers on the .400. A .458 winchester I shoot hurts...

The .338 isn't bad but the 400 Holland & Holland is fierce.

My rifles aren't rifles but I have a couple ugly / plain guns that I do use. A savage striker in .338 RCM with the original black plastic stock and a Compeditor Corp in .400 H&H. neither one much to look at but they do shoot.

A big bull elephant in the 80 /90 pound range. 2nd would have to be a Lord Derby eland but a true world class one. I've been blessed with the SCI #3 handgun Livingston eland and I'd like to get a Lord Derby for a matched set.
