Recommendation request for best quality double rifle take-down travel case

Completely agree. I hate Negrinii cases and have either sold, or given away to friends, my cases when a gun comes in one.

Chapuis double rifle - UGEX ejector

I have had several Chapuis DRs over the years and all have shot very well (for a double). That's the first single trigger one I have seen.

    Any pipe smokers?

I've seen those and wondered how well they smoked.

    Any pipe smokers?

I have a couple dozen Savinelli's, about half of them are Rhodesian style, which I prefer. Do you smoke while hunting? I've been looking for a lightweight pipe that I can clench while bird hunting. The Savinelli's are just a bit too heavy for me to clench for very long.

    Duck hunting shotgun question...

I don't think it matters. Ive used a Beretta 391 (precursor to the A400) that is wood and black for years. Be aware that in really cold conditions, semi auto actions tend to slow down. Either shoot your gun dry (not recommended) or get some cold weather grease. I remember there was a system you...

    New or "vintage"?

I have a Chapuis 9.3x74R amd a W.J. Jeffery. 450/400. I sold a Chapuis 450/400 and took the Jeffery to Africa. The Chapuis is an excellent rifle but the vintage rifles just have that extra mystique for me. If you go vintage, just make sure the barrels are still strong with good rifling.

    Beretta BRX1 vs Blaser R8

The BBRX1 is a synthetic stock copy of the Chapuis ROLS straight pull rifle. Beretta bought Chapuis and took the rifle and adapted it fro the American market by making it plastic. The ROLS is really a beautiful rifle, around the same price point of the Blaser R8. I am a huge Beretta fan, and...

    The pleasure of fine things

I find this thread very interesting in how varied people's views of what the "finer things" are. A horse saddle? I had no idea. A tractor? Never thought of that one. A handmade wooden boat? Cool! I wouldn't know where to start. A good book, handmade pipe, or quality time with family and friends...

The ideal number of cartridges to carry while hunting

Yes, the amount of ammunition I carry will vary, but I always will have much more than I need, regardless of the activity.

Culling Blet vs Ammo Pouch for 9.3x74R

My guide gifted me one of these for my 450/400. Excellent quality leather that is very stiff. My bullets don't move at all and are easily extracted, unlike some of the cheaper offerings.
