The older I get the more I use my hunting rifles less. My choice isn't on the chart, but would be used a LOT more. I'm suggesting a .22-250, yup a varmint caliber. I'd actually use it & admire it way more than a traditional hunting caliber. Thanks.

I like the .375, I've taken several deer with the 270gr Hornady ( cup & core) exited from any angle 1-12" exit hole. An elk was the only game I used a premium bullet on (Barns X) 270gr quartering shot 200yds 1-1/2" exit hole. I've yet to recover a bullet. If there are grizzlies in the area...

I have two .222 Rems. I meant I need one in my battery. ;) I know the 788s shoot, my cousin collected them & I've shot his a lot!

Everyone is thinking big game & I enjoy deer/elk hunting a lot, but I fire a couple of hundred more shots from my varmint rifles than I do big game rifles. I NEED a .222 Remington!;)

Wow, that's a beautiful rifle, those rings shouldn't be there. Save a couple of fired cases in case you have to send it in. Fire a couple of factory loads to send in. Firearms manufacturers don't like handloads. I probably wouldn't say anything about handloads to Ruger! That's not a bad group...

Bob is correct, practice loading & you can get pretty fast. I carry spare ammo in a wrist band, very handy. Good job on those wolves!

Pretty plain, a Case trapper, & a Swiss Army knife my wife gave me years ago.

And we can hunt & fish Mon. through Friday, when those working are at work..

Back after the war an 8X06 made a lot of sense. Today if I had a nice 8mm Mauser I'd leave it as is & enjoy the 8mm.
