I have had that shot. I shot at the purple and a solid hit. The buff ran toward us, the PH shot in the red. Next time I will shoot the red.

For Blaser R8 users - do you routinely change out barrels and scopes on your R8 or just leave them set up? How do you manage this? Thanks

I use a recoil pad whenever possible, just to soften the blow. I have a tender shoulder and use a pad most of the time. The only guns of mine without pads are .222 Rem and down. All shotguns except 28ga have pads. Use what you like and what your body can tolerate.

For me, I take extra ammo and leave it behind for the PH's. Second - be careful on the total weight of your ammo. You can only take 5kgs or 11lbs. I have had it weighed on several trips. Third - use your own locks and take at least 4 extra. Locks get damaged or lost. Fourth - Pack it as...

I have killed one - .300 WM using 180gr TSX. Dropped very quickly. My hunting buddy used a .270 with the same result.

I have used TSX on 12 trips. They work. Best of all most shots are pass thrus leaving a serious wound channel and even better blood trail should follow up tracking be needed. Virtually any caliber from .270 up works on plains game. Shoot what you like the best.

I used to think 200 rds, but now think that is the base to start from, then reload lighter loads for practice. So, more is better.
