    Recommend taxidermist

I leave Monday for a Bubye buffalo hunt. I may be ahead of myself but I’m hopeful for a successful hunt and my local, favorite, taxidermist is not returning calls. I’ve heard he relocated and possibly retired. I’m in search for a new taxidermist. Not every state side taxidermist can do a good...

    Help with TSA

Thank you for the reply. The case id like to use is shorter than both guns. It is, however, a very secure case. They will check serial numbers in my presence which is understood but will they handle the guns for this and repack them without me being able to assist? My concern is someone...

    Help with TSA

Domestically when I’ve traveled with firearms I sign a red tag that gets put in my gun case, verify it’s unloaded and off it goes. What can I expect when traveling to and from Zimbabwe? Will anyone unpack and attempt to repack my firearms in the case? I’m traveling through Atlanta to Jo’burg...

Gun case advice - KK gun case

I leave for Zim in a month. I have a KK Air gun case (chest) in which my guns have to be broken down to fit. The barrels and forend of my double rifle will be removed from the receiver, both wrapped and packed in foam. My bolt action will have the action and the wood wrapped separate. My concern...

    Let's Talk About Vises!

Vices! I have 8 and wish I had 8 more. I have 3 1/2” Parker, (2) 4” Parker’s, 5” Parker, 4” Wilton bullet, 4” Columbia, 3” craftsman and 5” Chinese not-so-good vice. Parker’s are nostalgic. They made a smooth jaw vice like the attached pictures. They’re my favorite. I love their shotguns too!

    Gunsmith for Double rifle issue

I’ve taken the factory cartridges that I fired and put them back in and pulled the trigger on both of them and the gun opens easier. Spent cartridges slide in and out without any issue.

    Gunsmith for Double rifle issue

I have a 1925 William Evan 470 NE boxlock that when both barrels have been fired is very hard to open. I believe it is due to firing pin drag. Cartridge examination suggests this. I took the firing pin out and examined them in an optical comparator, along with the spare pins under the grip cap...

    What are you reading?

I would encourage you to keep with it. The books are long and it takes quite an investment to stick with them but I feel so much more aware of not only that war but also of current events. Such as, why is Benghazi, Gibraltar and most of Northern Africa so important. If anyone has wondered why...

    What are you reading?

Just finishing volume 4 of Winston Churchill’s 6 volume set about WW2. Getting quite an education in the process.

    Mauser actions

I, too, have wanted to make this conversion. I have three 1909 Argentines waiting patiently to be completed and considered using one for a project just like you are. I will give you some random thoughts. First I acknowledge that this conversion has been made and I know of none that have failed...
