What knife are you carrying everyday right now?

For everyday pocket carry this little Barlow suits me well.

6.5mm: Lapua 155gr Mega bullet vs the Hornady 160gr round nose bullet.

I have a Blaser in 6.5x55. It’s twist rate is 1:8.66. I don’t know if Baser and Steyr are in the same group, but I think that 1:8.66 is pretty standard for the twist rate and that will stabilize your traditional 160gr bullets.

    Blaser R8 Professional

I have the 375H&H in both the R8 Professional, standard (aluminum) synthetic stock, and Winchester M70. I think the recoil is much milder in the R8 than the M70 or a R8 with a wood stock. I include the R8 wood stock only because I use to have a Blaser R8 Selous .458Lott and noticed a significant...

    Blaser R8 Professional

Wow that is way lighter. I don’t know anything about the Pro 2. I threw the .416 Selous barrel and bolt assembly on the stock and my scale read 10lbs.14.8oz. I think I like mine better, although eight and a quarter lbs is nicer when on a long day of walking. And then again the extra weight...

    Blaser R8 Professional

You should weigh your stock. I have three R8 Professional stocks. One is standard (aluminum) and two are Safari (steel) with one Safari having a kick stop. I weighed each one with it’s trigger group and magazine installed. Here is what mine weighs: Standard aluminum - 3lbs 8.6oz Safari w/o kick...

    Travel through Germany with firearm

My son and I did that fourteen years ago. We went through Frankfurt going to Windhoek. On the return trip we wanted a week's layover to visit my wife you was visiting her family in Belgium. I used Tarvel with Guns as my travel agent. They made it work but it took some effort if I remember right...

    8-06 users ?

I am in the process of building a 8mm-06 AI. My son is the machinest/gunsmith doing the work. We have all the parts, just waiting on the reamer. Hopefully it will show up in the next week or two. At first we were thinking about doing a 8mm Brenneke but decided not to because of difficulty in...

What have you killed with the 8x57?

Here is a list of 8mm bullets I have come across in the U.S., many of which I have. I am sure there are more in Europe, Africa and Australia. Besides the 8x57, I also shoot the 325wsm, 8x68s and the 8mm Rem Mag. I have taken game with all calibers except for the 325wsm as it is new to me. My...

Which of these three bullets would you use for leopard in 30-06?

My son shot his Leopard with a 8x57 180gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. I think just about any cup and core or frangible bullet like a Ballistic Tip or SST would do nicely. But the best person to ask is your PH.

    Issues with a 416 Remington

You need to get the Belted Magnum Collet Resizing Die from Reloading Technologies. Everybody that reloads Belted Magnum cartridges should have this tool, unless you prefer to just throw your cases away.

    8x68S owner's opinions

It kinda depends. Case in point; my 8x68s has an eleven inch twist. I shoot a 250gr Woodleigh RNSN (1.34”) at around 2570fps and have a Stability Factor SD 2.47, which is very good. I also have 247gr Stone Hammers (1.655”), they are all copper bullets and therefore longer. I get them up to...

    The Problem With A Globalisation

I admit, I often miss the days before cell phones and gps’s. The days when you kept a jerry can in the back of the pickup because it was 130 miles to the next gas station and you may need it, and a water bag hanging infront of the truck to help cool the radiator while crossing the desert. Of...
