chronograph,,, I need a new one

Garmin, It is not finicky and will set there all day long waiting to register a shot. I have never missed a shot with the Garmin. The Garmin doesn’t record shots down range. The Garmin is not the best for dumping your shot strings to your computer. LabRadar, can be somewhat finicky with...

    Blaser R8 Owner in USA

I remember having buyers remorse right after I ordered my first Blaser R8. I had ordered a standard Professional synthedic stock with a 8x68s barrel. I main reason I went with Blaser because I was intrigued with the 8x68s and the straight pull action. Once my rifle arrived and I started shooting...

    Reloading for Dangerous Game

One of the main reasons I handload is for bullet/caliber combinations you won’t find in factory ammunition. On my first Safari I used a 8mmRem Mag. Not much out there for it and what little there is, can be rather puny. My 200gr TSX load worked very well. For my second Safari I took a .375H&H...

    Why Buy A Blaser K95?

What’s not to like, the K95 is sleek, beautiful, sexy, relatively light and just feels good in your hands. It’s action is neither to stiff nor loose and it is easy to take down. I purchased a used one around a year ago chamberd in 6.5x55. It has become my favorite rifle and I find the 6.5x55 to...

I’ve had good luck with VVN550 and RL16 in the 8x68s with 180gr TSX. Hammer Bullets make a lot of 8mm bullets. I have been shooting them of late and like them so far. They list ten different bullets weights, worth a look. I took a nice elk with there 198gr Hammer Hunter, in my 8mm RM, at a...

    8x68S owner's opinions

I like the 220gr SGK. It probably has the best ballistics of the 8mm bullets. I have only taken two animals with it. One was a Mule deer and the other a young Elk. The Elk dropped to the shot at around 350-400yds. The Mule deer was around 70yds straight on. Shot at the base of the neck. The...

Gert I thought I would check in and ask how your 8x68s project is coming along. I also thought I would share some of the things I have done and am doing with the 8x68s. As you may know my 8x68s is a Blaser R8. It’s barrel is 24.75” and it has a 1:11 twist rate. It also has a fairly long throat...

R8 one system two barrels for DG and PG in same hunt?

Something I have’nt seen mentioned that you need to be aware of is; If your R8 is standard you will need to open up the barrel channel for the .416RM barrel to fit in the stock. Plus the Standard R8 is a little lighter in weight than the Safari stocks therefore adding a little more punishment to...

    Hammer Bullets

    6.5-300 Wby performance in Africa?

If you are set on getting a Weatherby caliber rifle, then I would suggest either a 340Wby or a 375Wby. If I am not mistaken 375H&H ammo will shoot safely out of a 375Wby. I would get the lighter barrel. I shoot the 8x68s out of a Blaser R8. Its muzzle is 17mm/.66. It shoots great. Recoil is similar to a .300WM, no big deal. I shoot anything from 160gr to 250gr bullets in mine. In my opinion the heavier barrel will be clunky.
