The 220gr in 30 cal is very effective. Hemingway used a 220 to take a rhino. I wouldn't recommend it for DG (lol) but for plainsgame it works.

In multiple trips to Zim, SA and Namibia (april-october) I've seen one puff adder and one cobra. Snakes are a non issue.

As long as you are very competent with your rifle, willing to listen and follow instructions, go for whatever you want. Just know Africa and DG is very addictive.

Good info. Not a fan of frontal shots as a first shot. With a perfectly placed shot, almost any caliber will work. However crap happens and I like to be prepared. My 450Ackley is my choice but I would love a 500.

Totally agree. Friends of mine had their farm taken and within 6 months it was unrecognizable and destroyed. Very sad.
