@Mtn_Infantry
I do love my 25s they are amazing. Would love a little 25-20 in a strong single shot. The ultimate would be an original Sako that came out in that calibre but the price would be astounding.
Where my 25 finishes my 35 takes over.
Unfortunately my finances will never allow me to...
@Huvius
All you need to do now is move the shoulder forward and make it one calibre long.
Being a rimmed case easy to fireform as no headspace issues. This would increase your case capacity and give it a real set of balls.
Loaded in a nice Ruger No1 with 310s to between 2500-2600 it would be an...
@MS 9x56
No mate he's not just reaching
Me thinks ALL 338 Wimpchester magnun owners just suffer delusions of grandeur thinking it is a good as the Whelen. Those in the know tho actually realised it can't hold a candle to the Whelen especially in the CLASS status.
You never know with the right...
@spike.t
I agree mate the 7x57 is a great round and the beauty of it is when necked down to 25 it makes a fine and dandy deer rifle that's gentle on the shoulder fe the young uns. Oh that right it's called, wait for it yes, the 257 Roberts.
Necked up to 35 and given the Ackley treatment it...
@Red Leg
Jack brain washed a lot of people
Elmer was in a different school but sill correct
But the good colonel ( Whelen not Saunders)got it right. Then again so did Roy ( not Rogers) got it right with the great 257.

@Josh P
I do have a bit of a soft spot for the old three O.
It was my first centre fire and have great respect for its ability. It's off spring in 22,25,27 cals are also great and the 25 cal version accounted for a heap of game up until the late 70s and is making a bit of nostalgic revival with...
@NIGHTHAWK
I just wish they made 243s with 30" barrels. That way I would only have to weld two together to make tomato stakes. The shorter barrels need up to four barrels welded together to make them the right height but that's not a problem. The more barrels I use the less 243s available so...
@Rifleman97
There's just something about a fast 25. My own that I designed is right up there with the Weatherby. It just kills out of proportion to its size. Like you I love the ultra flat trajectory.
Point, shoot, collect game and go home.
No need for dial up scopes or range finders or other...
@cash_tx
I won't keep you guessing any longer mate
As everyone knows I love the 35 Whelen
BUT
My favourite for most of my shooting I reach for my 25. It is my own design and will take all the game I hunt here in Australia.
What's not to love with a 25 cal with a 75gn VMAX at over 3,900 fps to...
@Badboymelvin
You is a velly funny man Russ.
The beauty of the Whelen is it doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't.
It's just a tower of power in an efficient case lobbing big bullets at good velocity and able to handle anything that walks or hops in Australia and 95% of game in any other...
