Your gunsmith should also be able to source a Park West (formerly Dakota Arms) lefty action. They offer them in both a round-action design, akin to a Rem 700 in concept and a more Model 70 styled action with a flat bottom etc., I believe they come with the bottom metal, trigger and so on as well.

According to their site they use Borderview for guns from Canada into the US, but otherwise will import from the US into Canada in-house (and with their US FFL), alas between them and iRunGuns, one of them is definitely capable!

Most Canadian retailers aren't in the import business, and it's a huge headache for onsie-twosie imports. The other one that does perform import work individually is Prophet River Firearms in Alberta.

Did the US company not receive an export permit for the barrel? Regardless of intent i.e. a sporting rifle, all rifle barrels are ITAR and export controlled. Doesn't mean they can't be exported, but they do require permitting. Beyond that, it looks fantastic, congrats on a unique barrel and R8!

Please post more photos when you can, that's a great looking rifle! As an aside, here's a link to a .400/350 that sold at some point on Gun Broker - the stepped action etc., are just like yours. I'm assuming it's all original, so the photos may be a good reference to what your rifle used to...
