New handloads for my 375 H&H

Great Input! I also like the reloading process, and working up loads on the 375 has been a really great experience. Certainly my heaviest rifle, and has been the easiest to get acceptable results with. I start mixing in sticks, fast acquisition, repeat shots etc next week.

Robert Ruark, "Use Enough Gun" My dad asked me, "Why are you using a 460"? "They dont make a 560". That was pickup trucks and V8's, but I think the wisdom applies. Shoot Safe

Reloads in .416 Rigby with used brass will not feed in my Mauser 98E

OH, 1 other item. Measure the expansion on the base with new and fired cases and then with the resized case. If head expansion is not fully sized back, and it often is not, the case base can be missed by the bolt and it will jam up on the expansion

Reloads in .416 Rigby with used brass will not feed in my Mauser 98E

DO NOT FILE ON YOUR GUN Sorry for the caps! lol If Factory ammo feeds, its not the gun. Next, your loads with new brass are working, correct? Fired brass that has been re-sized is your problem? So, you need to inspect the differences. If the bolt is missing the pick-up, there is likely a...

New handloads for my 375 H&H

Sounds like the 250 TTSX did very well on that shot for sure. Any idea where your muzzle velocity was for that load? I appreciate your perspective on velocity ranges. As speed gets much above 2800, I generally migrate a little heavier in bullet weight, but I have not found anything...

New handloads for my 375 H&H

IMR4350 behaves a little faster than H4350. If you look at the load page I sent, you can see it in the NOS Partition 260s pretty easily. The IMR4350 max load is 78.6C and 2710 FPS. Moving to the H4350 max load is 81.5 (not shown as C, which is interesting as I bet its VERY C) and is 2818...

CFE 235 is what you get when you type 235 too many times and hit send without reading your own note! OY! Sorry for the stupid! Hey. what is your 375 WSM chambered in?

New handloads for my 375 H&H

I've had very good results with H4350 in medium to heavy bullets for caliber. Little slow for lighter 235gr bullets on my rifle. W748 would be a good choice there. hit the following for load data: https://hodgdonreloading.com/rldc/ Modern powders are giving us a significant advantage (100...

New handloads for my 375 H&H

Not second guessing your PH and assuming he thinks more whomp is good. H4350 will get you right at 2550 for a 300 gr bullet. 78 Gr. of Superformance will do the same. I'm having exceptional performance with the latter and at a bit higher levels without any pressure issue. PM me for data...

New handloads for my 375 H&H

Very nice list of targets and of course good advise. I have a fair amount of time prior to my RSA hunt, so I can develop a number of loads and get comfortable with them. Custom loads with Superform and CFE223 are offering a bit of a speed advantage over more traditional powders, though I...

New handloads for my 375 H&H

Super input. Thank you Bush Buck. You did use the 250 TTSX on Eland? I'm working with CFE223 with that bullet, but I have some work to do. Your idea on a second scope is a really good one and I will likely consider that. I have Leupold QR set up with a 2-7 VAR III right now that is very...
