How to do the tough hunts into your 80's

I’m 64. I’ve dreamed of Africa since a young boy. Career, family, church. God blessed me overwhelmingly. My wife of 42 years is a saint. I’ve been a runner since late teens, weight lifter, breathhold diver . At 63 my left hip went south, I developed AFIB. Spent the last nearly a year...

What's the riskiest stunt you've ever pulled?

125 mph in a Vega on retreads. Several times More than my share of stupid deep breath-hold dives spear fishing solo Topping out every motorcycle I’ve owned. Ranching in the Superstition Mountains Running at 115 F in Phoenix Benching silly heavy without a spotter Way too many dumb...

How to do the tough hunts into your 80's

Keep mobile. Eat reasonably. Strength train regularly. Walking is good. Running is better. Sleep 7-8 hrs. Don’t smoke, drink, eat a bunch of sugar.

New handloads for my 375 H&H

Phoenix Phil and I have chatted. He’s a really smart guy and much more experienced than I for sure. I did find having 2 loads an issue and found it was beneficial, but simple is a good plan as well for sure

New handloads for my 375 H&H

A 300 grain TSX could fly around 2800 or so with such a load. Not a bad load for plains. I like a TTSX better than the TSX for plains game. My safari experience is really low at 1, but I believe the TTSX (250 375 at 2850 MV) seemed to have had better "knock down" than the TSX 300 at 2600 ish...

New handloads for my 375 H&H

If you mean on the 416 rem, I haven't thought about that light of a bullet in that caliber. If I were, I’d start at the top load of the 350, or about 82 and go up a gr at a time to 85-86 grains

New handloads for my 375 H&H

These are all toys. Buy the one you want shoot the loads you like. Does not bother me what makes another man (or woman) smile. Safari this late spring I shot my 375 loaded hot and heavy for buff. 1and done. Loaded hot with lighter bullets (250 TTSX) for large plains game (4 for 4), and...

New handloads for my 375 H&H

In the 1970's as a young teen, I had (ok my dad had) at TC contender in 44 mag with that silly octagonal paper-thin barrel and factory grips. I would load a 2 round box (remember those?) with loads side by side. 1 row was 180 gr sierra JHC with a light load of herco. The other row was a 240...

New handloads for my 375 H&H

No thank you lol. I’ve shot 30 out of my 375 off the bench. Not a big deal. Your 416 Weatherby ? Ouch. What’s your rifle weigh all in? My 416 REM is 10.5 scoped. I am wanting a 378 Weatherby. Anyone with one near Phoenix want to let me try?

New handloads for my 375 H&H

Sure, CFE223, Hornady Brass, 3.6 LOA, Fed 215M primers. No pressure signs at all. This is out of my custom Eddy-Stone M1917, 24 in barrel. I'll push both bullet weights a bit and see where pressure signs show up, then do 3 shot groups lower to home in on a load the rifle likes. These...
