Rainy afternoon is a good time to hit the bench for some practice ammunition. 30-06 today. I prepped 100 pcs of new hornady brass and loaded up 50 rounds. Hornady 150 gr FMJ-BT over Big Game for 3025 fps.

Looks like the safari classics did come in 416 Remington.

It’s been a while since I visited, but Head smashed in buffalo jump was very cool. Definitely take in some events at The Stampede and equestrian events at spruce meadows.

My copy of Th 9.3x62 Mauser Journal arrived the other day. It had me with one of the first sentences “..it shares romantic gold with only the .404 Jeffery.”

Wet, cold, windy, a few snowflakes wafting down and even a meteor in the neighborhood yesterday—good time to load some practice rounds. First up was 35 rounds of 300 H&H. Inexpensive Hornady 175 gr FMJ over H4831sc in Nosler brass for 2975FPS. Next was 50 rounds of 257 Roberts. Cheap 90 grain...

Pouring rain again this morning…..seemed like a good opportunity to do some 257 Roberts case prep. Sized, Cleaned, trimmed, etc., — ready to be loaded.

I’ve been loading my 404 to 2225+- with 400grn TSX and 78.5 gr H4350. The folks at Barnes gave me a minimum expansion velocity of 1600 fps so no problem there.

I worked up a practice round for my 257 Roberts with 90 grain seconds (hornady cx) I ordered from @RAVEN ROCKS PRECISION. One grain below max of IMR 4350 got me 3190fps out of my FN Mauser and a nice group! .32” not counting the flyer (I pulled it). That’ll work! Aside from practice...

Just to echo what others have said—Marius is a terrific guy and guide (I’ve hunted with him 3 times) and Transylvania is a beautiful place to hunt. You’ll have a great time. Side note—Romania and particularly Cluj, has some great food!
