Why not something like the 40-70 Sharps Bottleneck? It’s easy enough to form brass from 45-90 cases, and that’s both cheap and plentiful.

It sounds like they’ve decided to make blenders instead.

I could have shot a big elk on a Mexican coues hunt for reasonable money. We were in the truck and they were just standing there at about 100 yards, a slam dunk. That was the problem: it was too easy, and would have felt like shooting a cow. I just couldn’t have put it on my wall. I have no regrets.

I'd take mine down into the various pieces and give everything a light wipe down with one of the car waxes. That's been wet weather wisdom for decades, and the R8's easy disassembly makes it a ten minute job.

Unless I’m mistaken, the Dentler rings are the 3/4 snap over design which I really dislike because of their propensity to scratch scope finishes, and I recall them riding just a little higher than I prefer, but otherwise their system seems to work well.

This is one I wouldn’t rush. More haste, less speed.

I would so have done this hunt, if I weren’t already booked for a hunt in two weeks.
