Back from Africa. How are you paying the bill to the PH?

I have used various methods in the last few years. The easiest by far was when the outfitters I hunted with had set up bank accounts in the USA. Second easiest method was using Wise (website or app) to send funds to South Africa. The fees weren't very high, but I couldn't transfer more than...

    Best insect repellent for Africa

I usually don't use insect repellent. I have hunted Africa 7 times and I have only been "bothered" on three occasions: In Zimbabwe's Zambezi valley in late October (Mopani bees) In Mozambique's Zambezi Delta in late September (Tse-Tse flies) and In South Africa's Eastern Cape in mid-June (I...

    Rifle Sling Recommendation

I have two slings from Slogan Outdoors. They are made from a similar (same?) rubber material. I like them, but there is a bounce to them when carrying. Some people don't like that. I use the Slogan sling in foul weather or wet/muddy conditions. I use the Murray Leather A-1 in good conditions.

    Jane Goodall has died

Hi RLD, I wish it hadn't passed, but it did. It was implemented in early 2024 through the Wild Animal and Plant Protection and Regulation of International and Interprovincial Trade Act (known as WAPPRIITA) by the creation of sections 12.1, 12.2 and 12.3 of the Wild Animal and Plant...

    Jane Goodall has died

https://janegoodall.ca/our-stories/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-jane-goodall-act/ This effectively banned all imports of sport hunted elephant and rhino trophies into Canada, even from countries where elephant populations are well managed (and often over abundant). This was a...

    Would you like a Cigar?

I am a newbie cigar enthusiast. I am heading to Namibia next week on Emirates (via Joburg). Can you please recommend a few cigars that I will be able to find in Dubai's duty free shops? I usually like a smaller cigar (35-45 minute burn time), but I am open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Ruger M77 guys, a recoil pad question

Ruger started fitting their M77 MkI (tang safety) with a black recoil pad towards the end of their production (late 1980's). The Ruger logo will be embossed into the recoil pad. The black recoil pad has identical dimensions to the previously used red recoil pad.

Anyone use Talley extended base or double extended base?

I know this thread is almost two years old, but I was just in touch with Talley Manufacturing over this same question. They advised that the "extended" front base allows the user to move the front ring rearward by 0.25", and their "double extended" front base adds another 0.25" of rearward...
