The 45gr of 4198 with a 340 gr bullet is a typical NfB load for a 450 BPE cartridge as recommended by Ross Seyfried in several articles in DGJ. It isn't a +P load.

What JJP may have meant is that the rifle is safe for Nitro for Black which any good 450 BPE is suitable for. That being said, the normal load for a 450 BPE used a bullet between 280 and 325 gr at about 1850 fps. That is a very good deer and black bear load. Your gun is very nice looking...

What is the reticle? Is it the duplex or the firedot windplex?

This is an excellent 10mm pistol, particularly with the installed Holoson. It can be used for deer hunting and for a carry pistol in bear country.

I am surprised that this very nice, vintage rifle has not sold. It would be great for any collection and better yet, in the field.

Make sure you post several good quality pictures that show the condition of the gun.

I believe that 8x57JS ammo is fairly easy to find so ammo should not be a problem. If you want to hunt or shoot at the range with a truly classic rifle that is capable of taking any North American game, here it is.

Is this rifle an 8x57j or an 8x62J? I initially assumed an 8x57J, but I believe that many post WWI rifles were 8x62J.

Unless forced to by a gun unfriendly government, why would anyone want to ruin a nice rok rifle bu boring /chambering to .410? There are less expensive .410 available.
