So in that photo there is the 88b which is a 2016 rifle in 375 flanged mag, then the 89b rifles are a 450/400 level I engraving, my beloved 450NE grossbox frame with level II engraving, then a 470 grossbox with border scroll engraving, and finally my 500NE grossbox with case colors, and extended top strap. The 470 has moved on to a happy new owner…another forum member…who has enjoyed it since the summer.
All the rifles have 26” barrels and LOP from 14 7/8” (The 375), 14 3/4” on the 450/400, 15” on my 450NE and 500NE.
I’ve taken the 450NE twice, last October and again this April, used it for a buffalo, couple hippo one on dry land, warthog and a bushbuck (at 87yd), then a bull elephant in April.
I’m heading to Zim in a couple weeks and the 500NE and a 375 flanged mag will come along. I recently picked up a second 375 FL also in 88b, just higher grade of wood and more engraving. Not sure yet if it will come or the one I’ve owned for a bit. The new one is prettier but my original is perfectly dialed accuracy wise with my loads. The new one shoots well, but haven’t gotten the loads as dialed in yet and may run short of time. Since leopard is a possibility on this trip, accuracy is a focal need.
In one of the later photos that has a second case colored framed rifle, that is my 1912 Westley Richard’s 450/400. It hasn’t been to Africa with me yet, but will at some point. Also 26” barrels and 14 3/4”lop.
I have a Heym 89B 500 NE that has been to Africa twice taking 2 buffalo and 1 eland.
I'm looking to take it back next year for Elephant.
I have a Ruger 77 RSM in 416 Rigby that I have used extensively taking Tiny Ten through Buffalo. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done very nicely.
One of my rifle passions is for Dakota/Parkwest rifles. I have 3 and one on order. I appreciate the way they look, function and handle in bolt actions and single shots.

I care for my rifles but try to enjoy each of them. There was a time where I collected when excited and ended up with pile of things I didn’t use. When I had a vaulted room it was easier to do. Until I build a shop in a couple years, things are in safes and slots are a premium…which gets more complicated as things seem to follow me home here and there throughout the year.
I have a Rigby BGR in 416 that’s done several trips to Africa and taken a few buffalo and all sorts of other things from sable, roan, warthog, croc and even impala…no tiny ten yet.
Kind of think the tiny ten with a double sounds fun. I also like the Dakota rifles and have had a number of them, actually have 3 Dakotas I need to list for sale now, just been too busy readying for the bighorn hunt I did last minute earlier this month and making ready to head to Zim in a couple weeks.
I've taken 8 Tiny Ten. One duplicate. Hoping to put a 2 country hunt together in the next 2 years to try and complete the challenge in hunting the 3 I still have not chased. Very fun to hunt.
