From the book African Hunter by Bror von Blixen-Finecke

I once asked AI who she was—maybe someone will find this interesting. A wonderful, courageous woman:
Eva Dickson, Blix’s third and last wife (1905–1938).
Explorer, pilot, rally driver, and travel writer during the interwar years.
In 1932, she became the first woman to cross the Sahara by car, traveling from Nairobi to Algiers; she met Blix through Karen (....)
She planned to drive from Beijing to Stockholm along the Silk Road, but was killed in a car accident just outside Baghdad. She was only 32 years old.
