Griffin & Howe .340 Wby with Brno 602 action damaged during handling

Oh dear, what happened - run over by a freight train?
Is that kind of damage fixable, or is a new stock required?
Btw, what kind of case is (was) it?

Speared by an airport luggage handling forklift in Phoenix, AZ. Not sure what brand the case was, but it was heavy steel. The stock was gone and the barrel bent. Did not have the money to rebuild it, so sold the parts since the tuned-up ZKK 602 action was fine and all the Griffin & Howe steel work (barrel band front sight, barrel band swivel, barrel band quarter rib and express sights, claw mounts) were reusable on a new barrel.

Wow, it's a sad story. Why should you have to pay anything? Aren't the luggage handling people responsible for their own actions?

@cmk Yep, they are. The Montreal Convention (formally, the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules for International Carriage by Air), and the Warsaw Convention set the maximum liability of airlines for lost/destroyed baggage to a fixed amount 1,131 SDR per passenger (the amount in the Warsaw Convention is based on weight of the baggage). The value of the SDR (Special Drawing Right) is based on a basket of five currencies: the U.S. dollar, the euro, the Chinese renminbi, the Japanese yen, and the British pound sterling. Currently 1 SDR = $1.40. So, if something like that happens today, you will receive a check for $1,583, which pains to cover the cost of a full blown Griffin & Howe custom gun. Like it is missing one zero, kind of things...

Ouch, a painful loss. I had a gun run over by a tug, fortunately only lost the gun case. Delta handled the situation very professionally. A Delta rep. went to the store, bought me a new case, and put me on a later flight. After the trip they reimbursed me the cost for a proper gun case.
