Every time I see a carp (aka: Swamp Trout) start to rise and feed off the surface, I automatically think of Curly of the Three Stooges having a hard time to capture with, with a club , rod, or shotgun.
A lot of fishermen in Australia hate carp, but, I and a few other mates reckon that they are a prime sporting fish, especially on light tackle. They fight even harder if you hook them on a lure. I have even had the tail walk like a marlin when hooking them in extremely shallow water. It's not that common, but it's spectacular when they do. As for edibility, that's up to how much patience that the individual puts in to preparing the fish.
I can't find the 3 stooges clip with the carp, but have found a couple of others for light entertainment.
