The thread about Bell on Kindle got me thinking... My wife and I have always loved books but in our younger years, they were always stuffed hither and thither:) Fortunately, in our mountain home, we finally have a "library". Still have 20 boxes of books up in the hay loft:(
I will start...

A general rule of life is that I like people with bookshelves larger than the width of their televisions. It speaks to one's intellect.

Sadly, I don't have enough room to display all of my books. Just a 14' long book case and built in credenza.

In a perfect world I'd like to own so many book cases that I have to own rolling library ladders to reach them.

Your collection looks wonderful!

I have a few of these scattered around the house. They are old 6 gun gun cases that my father built. I converted them to book cases when young kids started coming around and it was unfashionable to display guns.

I don't have much of a library. My wife does not want to spend money on housing books that are no longer read or used. When my father died, most of his book were sold at an estate sale, I kept some. My grandfather did have a large libary of over 2700 volumes which now resides at UT Austin.

I love books. But sadly we have limited space especially after the kids were born. So I stashed most of my collection at the in-laws. Still got enough books at home to read. Afterwards they go to the rest of the collection. One exception are all my hunting books. They stay.. you have to draw that line somewhere ;)

Another thing that helped is my wife bought me a Kindle.

Very nice! A man after my own heart.
One of the things I see and like about these libraries is the eclectic tastes and the seemingly random juxtaposition. Good stuff
...indeed quite random, with a common thread...
Thank you and congratulation for your collection and display!
Me, I couldn't live without my books, they are responsible for my formation as a man, not just as autodoorsman.
Those books are very good friends.

I'd like to share one more pic.
Just because I like this corner of home.
This is the marble fireplace we have when I still lived in my family house, when I was a boy. Now, I do not have a chimney flue here at home, it's a small apartment and indeed it's not very common to have a burning fireplace here in Rome.
But I liked very much the structure by itself, so I turned it in a small library.
This way, I still have a "fireplace" at home, and I found a way to store many old volumes.

As a fitness enthusiast for almost two decades those dumbbells are awesome and also love the leather football.

My "library" is small by comparison since I keep my living area real simple. Basically I have a bed, a couple of reading lamps & a stack of mostly technical books on programming. I like being a computer nerd. I go to the public library about 3~5 times a week so I don't keep a lot of books. If I buy one, I usually give it away or donate it after a while.

I have really cut down over the last few years only keeping my favorites in two places. The first is in my trophy room under my extensive bar and the second is in my family room

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
