I am new to this site but read the forums and I still have not found the information I am looking for. I am planning my very first trip to Africa and I have yet to decide on a South African hunting outfitter. The three I've narrowed it down to are African Sky, Hunting Legends, and Frikkie du Toit's. I would appreciate some feedback about these outfitters as well as some other recommendations. I am looking for a well run operation and preforably not a canned hunt. Thanks.

Hi Saul
Welcome to the forum.I am quite sure you will find the answer on here.Enjoy the planning of your hunt.

I have talked with the people from african sky and hunting legend at some shows.Look like good places and the people seemed ok but I think there is better value from some guys right here.I am hunting with paw print and tootabi this year and have had all my questions answer in a timely manner and have had them both go out of there way to find anything I was looking for.I have hunted with hartzview also and you would not being making a bad choice by talking with them either. Two that I have talked with but have not planned hunts with yet would be KMG and CT safaris both top rated guys and very honest with what they can do for you.I think any of the ones I listed would give you more bang for your buck then the ones you listed.Good luck with the planning.

Saul,
What are you hunting?
In another thread you are intimating hunting dangerous game like Hippo and Elephant.
These species are not offered by many outfits inside RSA. They may take you to Zimbabwe or Mozambique.

Where are you wanting to hunt?

Here is some marketing for you. The information is all there. But, you have to be able to interpret it.

Quote from Hunting Legends web site:
We provide two type of Lion hunts, i.e: in open range areas like Matetsi Zimbabwe (Vic Falls), Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Namibia. However, we also offer cheaper Lion hunts in South Africa which are in big private reserves in excess of 30000 acres free and fair chase.

You differentiate "fair chase" and "canned" for yourself.
No matter where you hunt, determine what property or concession you will be hunting, its size and how many people are hunting it when you are there.

Good luck.

Yes, I have talked to all of these outfitters and they all say that they will take me by plane to Mozambique for some of my dangerous game, but that the rest can be done in South Africa.

Welcome to AH, Saul !

Hi Saul I have not hunted or talked with the ones your asking about but I would also recommend the ones Billc has mentioned as well as Huntershill Safaris and Maruis at KMG Hunting Safaris. If your wanting to stay a little closer to Jberg then give Louis at Spiral Horn Safaris or Johnny Vivier at Wintershoek Safaris they can also get you some great Lion hunts.

Too bad you can't get to Dallas this weekend as the Dallas Safari Club convention will be happening and it looks like one of your selections will be there (Frikkie du Toit's).

I have no info on your choices though as I've used Russ Field Safaris, once to the Free State and once to the Eastern Cape. Good luck on your hunt.

Welcome to the best forum on the web Saul!

I am convinced you will be able to start planning your hunt with any Outfitter here on AfricaHunting.com Best of luck, and hope you get what you dream of. Be sure to get the report out after your hunt has been concluded.

Warm regards,

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
