Hello everybody,

I found this place while doing a Google search for a 1903 Springfield action. I had never heard of this site before and was amazed when I started reading at the knowledge base here. I have never been to Africa (been fishing in Alaska several times) but a Safari is definitely a bucket list item for me. I hope to not catch too much flack for this but I would primarily want to tote a camera, but having a 375 H&H in case things got exciting would be prudent. Anyways glad to be here and I look forward to seeing as many amazing pictures as y'all are willing to share.

Joe

:S Welcome:

, Welcome to AH

Welcome, I’m down in middle Ga
, but my number one safari buddy lives up in Athens.

Be careful, this site can inspire some awesome adventures.

Welcome! Thanks for being here with the rest of us!!

Greetings JoePiperIV,

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Most if not all Africa safari companies, specializing in hunting, will have a .375 H&H rifle, among other caliber ones, for clients to rent.
But hang around this forum for awhile and you will want to buy one anyway.
Also, the .375 H&H is a gateway drug toward large bore rifles such as the .416 Rigby, .404 Jeffery, .458 Winchester, .458 Lott, .500 Jeffery and .505 Gibbs.
But those are only the beginning.
Once the monkey gets on your back, then you will soon be drooling over double rifles.

Life is short, don’t waste it watching television.
Go to Africa.

When you get around to it, I invite you to have a look into the Khomas Safaris web site.
No pressure.
And no matter who you decide to book with, you will turn a double back flip when you see Africa for the first time.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

Ironically "the big bore bug" is exactly how I found this wonderful site in the first place. I was (and currently still am) looking for a 1903 Springfield action to use as a base for a .35 Whelen build. I have been drooling over the great custom rifles of the early 20th century like Griffin and Howe and would like to build something similar. As much as I would like to own a real G&H for what one costs I could make it to Africa and would rather do so than buy a premium rifle.

Welcome aboard!

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
