    Proper setup?

Stores will always recommend whatever they've got in stock, in this case expanding broadheads. That's why I love forums, because you get unbiased information about what actually works. Walk into a store and they'll try sell you whatever they have on hand, whether it's the best thing for the job...

How many hunt with traditional archery gear?

I've been in love with that bow as well ever since I first saw it. There is a brief mention of that style of bow in the Traditional Bowyer's Bible:

    Undecided on broadhead

Sorry to hijack your thread, but does anyone have experience with Steel Force broadheads? Looking at getting this one: http://www.ozhuntingandbows.com.au/steelforce-trad-300grain

Broadheads for hard vs soft skinned game

If you have a heavy rig set up to take DG (80+ lb, 700+ grain arrows), do you use the same set up for hunting smaller game or do you use another broadhead/play around with arrow weight, etc? A heavy 2 blade fixed broadhead is best for penetration, but if penetration isn't an issue would you...

    Heavy arrow help

Direct from APA. On their website they only sell them up to 70 lb, or 80 lb as a $75 option, so I sent them an email asking if they can make it heavier and they agreed to make me a 90 lb one for $75 extra (same price as 80). Also had to sign a liability waiver that they sent via email, basically...

The most powerful bow for hunting

My King Cobra is 125 at 27", so yes you can get 150+. If you google "king cobra most powerful production bow" there is a thread on another forum from a guy who has it in 100 or 110 lb at 30" from memory.

The most powerful bow for hunting

I just got a King Cobra TF from APA - 90 lb draw weight, 370 IBO. At my draw length (27") this would fling a 450 grain arrow somewhere around 345-350 fps. With a 30" draw it would be a lot more. There are several bows floating around 350-360 IBO, but APA is the only major manufacturer I know of...

    Heavy arrow help

The bow arrived yesterday. Haven't had a chance to set it up or test it yet, will do so this week. For the birth certificate they usually chrono it with 5 gr/lb arrows but I asked them to test with the heaviest arrow they had available so they used 700gr. The speed is close to what OnTarget...

    Heavy arrow help

I am not 100% sure how to model weight tubes in OnTarget (I just added 8 to the gpi of the shaft) but it looks good with the Kinetics. If I can get a 300 gr point and another 75 gr up front (Victory steel insert + ballistic collar?) it will be around 940 gr at 27.5" with 19% FOC. Spine should be...

    Heavy arrow help

Hey guys, thanks for the info. The Kinetics look good, this is what I'm getting: Is there a way to get them heavier with inserts etc? At the moment it's showing 667 gr with a 300 gr field point and the 24 gr Accu-Tough insert. For the Rampages I can get it to a good place if I leave the...

    Heavy arrow help

Hi guys. I have a new bow on the way (90 lb APA King Cobra TF) and I need to get some arrows to go with it. I don't have any experience with heavy arrow setups so I could use some help. Essentially I am looking for a DG setup even though I will just be shooting targets for now. Ideally the...

    Bowhunting ELEPHANT Best Setup

What targets do you guys use for practice? I'm looking at buying/building a portable target after I buy my new bow, but I'm concerned about overpenetration and shredding up targets quickly if I'm shooting a 90 lb bow with heavy arrows. How would something like a Rinehart 18-1 hold up?

    Bowhunting ELEPHANT Best Setup

Thank you. I downloaded a free trial version of that program and it's giving me around 226 fps for 125 KE with a 1100 grain arrow, which seems a lot more realistic. I was very confused with the stats I got from the free online programs, but I guess you get what you pay for.

    Bowhunting ELEPHANT Best Setup

Hi guys, What KE calculators are you using for your setups? I have no intention of hunting an elephant, however I want to buy a hard hitting 90 lb+ bow for fun and I'm using elephant hunting rigs as a sort of metric for power. However I'm not sure where people are getting some of their numbers...
