This bull was worth the wait. It took Professional Hunter and hunter 4 days to finally find what they were looking for. With an irregular rut, paired with a full moon, things did not come easy. This was the second bull for the week to stretch the tape past the magical 50" mark for the Eastern Cape.
I agree with your sentiment on loading solids after softs. I can't see the need for that and feel that those days are long gone.
Are you saying that hunters can substitute solids with TSX or are you saying hunters should load a TSX after a conventional soft?
The royal antelope of the Eastern Cape. A Lovely Bushbuck ram for our hunter. Finding rams with ivory tips such as this one, still gets us excited. We don't see it often, so its a treat for us as Professional Hunters to find these extraordinary features on these special animals.
My last comment on the matter is the following. I'm very pleased to hear that some hunters commenting here have had such wonderful service from shooting Barnes, especially on Dangerous Game. That is truly wonderful to hear, because it means that you walked away unscathed, which is priority...
When you see a high quality animal such as this, there are absolutely no second guesses. Once we saw this ram, we immediately decided to pursue. After a stalk through some undergrowth to stay hidden, we came out roughly 150 yards from where we spotted this ram with his ewe. It was evident that...
Philip, I agree 100% with Mark, and you know my personal stance on Barnes on Buffalo.
To answer your above questions for you, when we we speak of follow ups, we are saying that we are not trusting the Barnes TSX to have enough penetration from a Texas Heart Shot on an already wounded Buffalo...
Lechwe are such stunning animals and their beauty always amazes me. There seems to be quite the variation in terms of the label for a male. For most part, we have always and have seen them referred to as bulls. Lately, I have seen them referred to as a ram. Is it a ram or bull? They are...
Once I laid eyes on this Blue Wildebeest bull, there was simply nothing else I would settle for. This can sometimes be a downfall, when you try to stalk past perfectly good bulls, just to get to the one that have caught your eye. Sometimes this simply doesn't work out. This time, it did. This is...
After spotting this bull around mid morning with some cows, we waited for him to descend lower on the opposite hills face in order to close the distance. We watched him for quite a while, only for him to follow the cows into a large thicket.
Once we were comfortable that they were settled for...
Have a look at Jakkals Vellies in Namibia. Not sure if they ship Worldwide, but you can always try and plan for them to be at your next location for a safari. They are made from Seal Leather in the front and Kudu leather at the back. The model that I wear is called "Alldays"
By far more...
Seems like the more open the terrain, the more wild Hartebeest get. With a little bit of intuition, we made a big loop and came over the back of the only hill in the area. We had to lay down for close to an hour, waiting for this bull to make his way to a respectable shooting distance. Only one...
This is a serious Black Wildebeest bull. After crawling a few yards, we managed to perch up over a rock and found three bulls together trying their luck with the herd bull. With their concentration firmly on each other, we managed to get setup for a very comfortable 150 yard shot. This bull...
Another great Waterbuck bull taken in one of our low fenced areas. One thing is almost universal with all hunters, and that is the surprise at the size of a Waterbuck bull. With its stout, thick neck and compact body, they can often outweigh a Kudu bull.
The musky smell is also unmistakable...
Here is a very large Stallion hunted with us. Zebra are one of the species where both sexes get hunted, and also quite necessary. Often, the mares will offer better, cleaner skins than the Stallions. To the untrained eye, telling the difference between mares and stallions can be challenging for...
Good day sir! Welcome to the forum. We will be able to assist you in some incredible country.
We have access to both managed as well as free range areas, which includes Waterbuck. Depending on the species that you are after, the moon phases will play a role for sure.
Will you please drop me...
Hi Norman,
We can assist you for sure in some amazing and massive country. Hunting two sheep in the next few days, so would be happy to share some photos with you.
Will you please be so kind to drop me either a PM here on the forum, or you can email me at info@huntsafaris.co.za

How is this for a unicorn? This was an ancient Common Duiker that was most likely on his last legs. The one horn was sheared off, with the other horn already withered away at the base from age.
Simply a giant in his own world.
Dear AH Community,
We have unfortunately had another cancellation for a Buff hunt for the 2025 season. You will be gaining a $1000 deposit which has been surrendered.
Original dates for this hunt was between 19-30 August 2025, but we can flexible for the rest of 2025.
The area is roughly...
Another magnificent Cape Kudu bull that broke the 50" mark. Since 2019, we started focusing heavily on age. Now, 6 years later, we can physically see the fruits of our labor from our decisions we made back then. So many more animals that we hunt during current times, on their last teeth.
Ivory tips is not something that is common on Bushbuck. This old ram was heavy all the way up with the some ivory to show. Typical Cape Bushbuck with his dark, chocolate coat.

When Africa offers you a blessing, you better be ready to accept it. This is a stellar Waterbuck coming in at 32". A Waterbuck was never on our hunter's list, but when an animal in this class walks out, it was never in question.
What animals were there that wasn't on your list, that you now...
This Caracal took us to some deep country. We had received a call from one of the nearby sheep farmers that one of his Merino Sheep ewes had been caught. Staff members noticed something in the grass and upon inspection, found the dead ewe, with the Caracal crouching behind and taking off as they...
My double rifle is in for some work for exactly this reason at the moment.
Moving the red dot from just in front of the action to the following position.
We get asked many times what is our favorite animal to hunt. The Bushbuck could be one that challenges us the most, but it sure is the one that is the most rewarding.
They are without a doubt the most temperamental animals out there. On beautiful days they will go missing, and be out in the...
Don't need them personally, but would be happy for any of my hunters coming for Buffalo to bring them for themselves. They really do perform well, so was just wondering about the availability.
Currently, I am shooting the 340gr Rhino's out of the 375 if someone is renting my rifle. Also really...
Generally, they stay inside of bulls, but they are the brand that stands above the rest when it comes to exiting. Some may want that, I certainly don't.
Those TBBC are excellent but have heard that they are difficult to come by in the USA. Have you had the same experience in acquiring them?
We are having a blast! Little bit of cat and mouse with this ram, and trying to figure him out, but we managed to outsmart him. Our hunter made a great shot on this beautiful specimen.

Scotland is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever seen. Scottish Highlands is a must. There is a day tour on bus that departs out of Edinburgh which my wife and I enjoyed thoroughly. I would at least swing by Edinburgh for an afternoon. Some incredible historical architecture there.
Beautiful Lechwe for our hunter. After putting in the initial stalk, we tried to close the distance without being noticed by other animals in the area. He decided to continue his path, away from us, which left us pinned if we wanted to stay undetected. After disappearing for roughly an hour, we...
