Don’t let them lie to you about the mt lion/ panther
There in a lot of places that Fwc says there not.
Saw a mom and cubs in 3 different county’s in the panhandle over the last few years
probably a ruger single 6 22 mag have been using it since 8-9 for pest control on the farm and small game hunting, traped hog tool
Hunting rifle ruger 77 in 6 mm Remington
Probably
I have put a lot of game in the freezer with the 4570 have a buch off ammo for it from cowboy loads a lot of the 300gr hp stuff a few. Boxes of the 405 safe for any rifle load
Then a few different boxes of the hotter stuff for the guidegun
Before I hurt my shoulder so bad I used it a lot but have not since the doc wanted to cut the bone and replace it from the joint to the elbow.
I have been shooting light recoil calibers.
Witch sucks because I have all ways like the bigger guns
I was looking at ammo saw that rem load but damed they want 80$ for a box
Read some magazines articles they said the action is relatively strong but not to push it.
But there seams to be a problem if you don’t use the the .312 bullets some article said it was trying to key hole at 50 yds with...
Yes recoil is a issue.
I dont reload any thing I use will be factory ammo or what I can get my brother to reload for me. Being a dyslexic I dont think me trying to reload would be safe. Seeing 4.9 gr as 9.4 could be a serious problem.
Well I like the 6mm Remington.
But if they open bear season back up.
I have no interest in using it the 358 probably #1 the 4570-44 mag 350l 450bm and then the 6.5x55.
Probably on that order lol
I actually like the 338 I have used the Winchester and have uses my brothers ultra mag a few times
I...
All ready have a 45-70 I have used the 303 in the past but it’s been over 20 years.
It’s the rifle it’s self that I really want. Just trying to decide on the cal.
If it was in 7x57 there would be no question.
And yes in the US Florida
I am looking at the Uberti CourtEney stalking rifle it comes in 303 and 45-70
With my shoulder the 45-70 loads would be the light ones 300gr Winchester hp ( I have a few hundred of the around)
If I get the 303 if I could find them o would want 200gr or so but the 180gr is easier to find I would...
I like them for certain jobs. Tight swamps or tight tree stands in the swamp. I love my trapper leaver actions with 16 in barrel and the 45-70 guide gun.
And room clearing I like the 11.5 colt xm177 clone that I have had since the early 90s
Well I don’t have a problem killing a female hunting.
I not able to hunt hogs with a knife anymore.
But when you grab a 250+ lbs hog boar or sow don’t really matter when you’re fighting to flip it and stab it on the heart.
Try out a 257 w
I have shot deer in the shoulder and had the stomach busted open when cleaning them.
It’s only happen a few times.
Normally when expecting a 300 yd shot and the deer desided to come out 50 yds are less.
The bullets path were stright through both shoulder.
Something busted the...
That’s strange.
And I guess why personal experience can’t all ways be relyed on.
I am not saying you’re experience is wrong.
But for me the 45-70 on deer have dropped the quicker than anything else except a 450 bm. I have used hardcast.300gr hp 405gr sp
And they dropped fast most of the time...
Some animal just have a will to live out of belief.
I saw a little doe shot with a 200 gr 338 ultra mag under 75 yds away.
The bullet zippered her she took off running she made it across the field with nothing left
Blood trail a foot wide inside every where.
I saw a hog shot to pices that made...
Right or not hunting like horse racing
Has all ways been a pay to play type activity.
Fl has a lot of public land but hunting is still a expensive pass time.
Even some of the best wma have limited numbers of pass for the weekend.
You have to be able to be off from work and at the wma office...
I dont know why. If you get into any dangerous field of work you know the risk you are taking on.
And the risk for hunting dangerous game by non standard equipment is it really as high as the risk of a bad shot by someone over guned because there going after something dangerous?
I knew a old...
Good read but that book makes me sad.
Have a good buddy that has a farm we share hunts. I have a cupple of small wet weather ponds that normally have water and some ducks during duck season.
I offered his son a copy of that book.
He loves hunting and fishing.
He told me flat out no thinks I only...
Well I asked about the 45-70 and 444.
One reason I was thinking about it. Is growing up using leaver actions.
I know it’s not dangerous game but with a 30-30.44 mag and 45-70 I have put multiple rounds more than 2 in deer infont of dogs and hogs infont of dogs or running towards me.
The...
I dont know about maping them out.
But I have ones that if they pop up in a cal I want at a price I can afford I will buy.
No 22-250 or 243 unless it’s a extremely rear rifle or extremely cheap
Now there are ones I plan to get like the umberty stalkking 1885 high wall I am not sure if I want...
Gator not a bad idea
Have a buddy that’s got a pond side of the rd.
People kept fishing and swimming in it.
Well some how a few gators got there some how
People kinda stay away.
I like the 338 and the 338 federal
I really wanted a 338 marlin when it came out but saw hornday was going to back off of it.
But having used a few 338 and different 35
In the same class of cartridge capacity
To me it looks like the 35 cals hit harder.
But that might be because I used...
I agree with you.
But fl does normal post warring about gators.
But tourists type places will tell you not to really worry about them if you leave them alone they will leave you alone.
I don’t think it would help lawsuits.
The woman that used glue on her head had a lawsuit.
Ambulance chaseing lawyers and stupid will all ways get together
I have never been to Africa or Australia.
I was watching a hunting show hunting the buffalo in Australia.
In the heard there was a older female buff.
I believe I would have wanted her more than the normal bulls.
Her horn went way down and the tips went backwards
A very different horn type
If there was a medical reason or sleep reasons
She should have known about it before hand and she should have taken precautions.
Simply put if a diabetic doesn’t bring insulin and eats a cake and passed out.
It’s not the cakes fault
Oh and as far as hugging a lion cub
Hell no
When I was in low school we went to one of the animal rescue type places
And they wanted us to hold and pet all kinds of animals.
I flat refused I was fine with there cows and horses
Growing up on a working farm I knew what animals to mess with and...
It’s not cruel. Its the way things are.
And worrying about being cruel is why the world so F now.
Cruel is learning.
My oldest daughter did not like me being cruel to her as a child making her mind and spanking when she didn’t.
She has decided not to spank her son it’s cruel.
So the other...
As a kid I saw a 1/2 grown angus bull get mad at the water kettle and just flip it right over.
Said water kettle was a cast iron 200 gallon syrup kettle full of water and sat down in a tractor tire
It was no more to that bull than knocking over a solo cup would be to you
Prickly pear, Spanish bayonets
Should grow they both do well in fl.
Then there the wild running rose bush. Living razor wire that of left wild can grow to the top of a pecan and about 16 feet wide
Welcome
I am up in north fl right on the ga line
9th gen. On one side of the family not sure how many generations on the other they came over with the Spanish.
Looks like honey locusts
If you can get some cutting just lay them in the yard you will have them up soon
Seriously I got hurt right before deer season a buddy came and cut some shooting lanes every where he piled H L limbs I now have trees starting and the thorns will go in a Massey...
Hey cc 12
I like that the only other Canadian I really like was the cr 13 year bourbon mash and cr vilina .
You can add honey and wild cherry to that cc12 make a cherry bounce that’s to me and the people that have had it say it’s good
Years ago before the internet open a lot of doors. ( aol was still sending out the disk for dial up)
A local dr bought a mark 5 and 5 boxes of ammo.
He shot 2 rounds and put the gun up for sale.
No one wanted it at what he was asking.
Any way it finally ended up in a little shop
The owner bought...
For where I am at and what I hunt.
The 6mm Remington
Turkey, coyote, deer and hog have all fell to it no problem.
If bear season comes back it is a little light but would work with a 100-105 gr bonded bullets
