Welcome to AH and sorry for the trouble you experienced. I don’t know how to fix this but to advise new members to make a good intro post and then engage in some others.
We do have scammers and then some who start off with an ax to grind about something.
You are in the right place!
They will all kill. Barnes TSX is my recommendation for several reasons. One is they just perform beautifully and secondly you don't need solids. I only hunt with Barnes now.
No offense intended. I'd love to have convention in my home state of Texas but that's not going to happen. What it boils down to is that there are very few locations with what Vegas has. Vastly larger convention centers (multiple), massive hotels, and more flights a day to every destination you...
I don't think it was luck. I think everyone knew it would be good. Maybe no one knew it would be this good though.
What I can not figure out (still trying) is who in the hell thought it was a good idea to go to New Orleans and Indianapolis? Now that was plain stupid!
I don't think we are cheering for failure. I am not. I am a DSC Life member. THe move to Atlanta, regardless of what anyone says, was stupid. The Convention center is not going to be in the state that they said it would be in January.
Dallas has always been the fun show and SCI is where...
Yes you must be a member to attend. Go to www.safariclub.org and you can buy your membership, get your convention passes, and book your hotel. Get it done and we will see you there!
Welcome to the club!

I am pretty brand loyal but that comes from a lifetime of experiences. My best scopes are Leupold VX6 and Swarovski Z8. Anyone who has not used these scopes, and especially the Z8, owe it to themselves to try one.
I had the well known leopard charge on my hound hunt where my PH was bitten. This was an unwounded cat. A very scary scenario.
While in camp last month in Zimbabwe I was told first hand and second hand of recent charges and attacks. For some reason most everyone (it seems) wounds their leopard...
As has been mentioned here there is no difference between 1x, 1.7x, and 2x in those scenarios. I had a charging leopard that I shot with the Leupold on 2x. A different scope (ie 1x) would not have made any difference.
I am hunting for the first time in Spain in December. It will be for the Ibex slam and touring with Jose Escorial of Safari Headlands. He is one of the oldest outfitters and actually owns one of the places we will hunt. My itinerary does not take me near Barcelona.
As you look at Spanish...
Yes. RSA, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, and Tanzania with mine. I think from a PH/safari pov the decocker is one of the best features. Being able to safely carry the gun loaded in a DG area where it is truly necessary gives great piece of mind.
I am about to hunt AK with mine. I may cry if it...
There are few challenges to taking your own rifle if you follow my advice. There is a bit of time and a few bucks here and there.
You can fly BA if you use a TA that knows what they are doing and they give the OK. Now it has to be BA metal the whole way! That means BA painted on the plane not AA...
Rich,
I have a Ruger that a bought first and had Hill Country Rifles accurize and add a McMillan stock. It wears a Leupold VX6 2-12.
Later I had J Sip and Sons make me a custom .375 Ruger barrel for my Blaser R8. This one wears the Swarovski Z8 1.7-13x.
I have hunted extensively with both of...
It would be fine. They are basically the same as the A Frame. I am unlikely to divert from TSX personally. I have seen so much success with them in so many calibers and situations.
1. Barnes TSX (no solids needed except for ele or tinies)
2. Swift A Frame (they are out there just keep looking)
3. Nosler Accubond
I would personally not divert from this list for DG.
