You understand, your response is exactly what I wrote but in your own words, it's encouraging to read let alone from a sponsored outfitter.
But...what do you mean by "outwit myself"? Are you talking about me trying to find the best sponsored outfitter? Best price? Best trophy? Best Location...
This is the way I figure it'll go down, the following is hypothetical.
I have booked my first African Hunt (& Visit) with ABC123 Safaris whom are sponsored on AH!
The hunt was so successful and surpassed all personal expectations that I immediately want to book another hunt when I get back...
How should I know about these outfitters you're talking about? I've never been to Africa as I stated........ Logically speaking I would be more comfortable with one of the Sponsored Outfitters.
What's stopping these other outfitters from becoming sponsors on AH forums?
This is sad to read I feel like you got completely conned (I'd be so upset) thank you so much for letting us all know of this ""business"". Personally (& no offense intended) I would rather pay more through someone reputable and know what I am getting as opposed to ""save"" money through some...
I can't think of any other typical caliber for a double that could reach out further and with the accuracy of the .30R Blaser, (cause that's all I'm doing now comparing the .30R Blaser data to everything else I can think of / find that's considered a typical double caliber) I appreciate your input.
I don't know where the notion of me looking to buy started from in this thread... I responded to a question about budget based on not wanting that particular variable to be apart of the factors involved, nothing about buying.
What? Why? Where's "all this" coming from? I just wanted peoples...
Even though it is imo the perfect dbl rifle all round caliber I think the .375 Flgd might be a bit to slow for reaching out to accurate distances versus the .30R blaser just based off the top end projectile speed (using .300WM as the "standard" for 'Reach Out Rifle' data). The .30R Blaser &...
Assume I already hand load for the Dedicated DG double and am "ready" to hand load for the Dedicated PG double thus no intention to rely on (being restricted to) factory ammo.
I really should of mentioned... "Already have a dedicated DG double" so try to think of something that is "dedicated PG double", I'm starting to lean more towards the .30 R Blaser (7.62×68mmR).
I don't expect DG hunting to be at greater than 50yds - 100yrds but likely less.
My question was directed towards PG and the need to reach out further.
I think the 'fear' of using a larger caliber is the 'potential' of 'blowing the trophy up' due to poor shot placement or / last minute happen-stances "animal turns during shot" and in such potential situations a smaller caliber rifle would do less "blowing up" (if any) than a large caliber...
It makes sense in a way.
Searching for Africa Specific Hunting gear in America is a specialist area.
The same way I would expect...
Searching for American Specific Hunting gear in Africa is a specialist area.
How much to they weigh? I've heard as much about them being light as a feather as...
All of them in Aus are diesel, in fact nearly EVERY ute in Aus is now diesel..... except for the RAM.
From what I've heard from local mechanics, they hate diesels, getting more complicated by the year and more fragile too... I was actually recommended a RAM truck instead of an LC70 because the...
GOKEY boots also have my attention as previously mentioned, I am considering one or two pairs of any of these. Cannot decide on Shoes & Gaiters OR Just Tall Boots (No Gaiters), I already wear knee high "impenetrable" Blundstone mining boots (980 Extreme) year round (inc summer) without over heating.
What's your opinion on the "silent" shoes? EX: R.M. 'Thula Thula', to be specific these are shoes without a traditional external sole with the idea that these will be quieter than those with traditional rubber grip soles. My biggest concern with this footwear is essentially everything OUTSIDE of...
Can you please confirm the weight of LEMS "Boulder Boot Leather" they just seem SUPER lightweight for the size they are when compared to one of the lightest Gokey shoes... I'm also confident but not certain that the weight of LEMS are per shoe not per pair but don't own any to know... But that...
I'm worried about overall traction in this style of footwear (no grip outer sole).
In the moments during a stalk where you want to cover ground quickly.
Take the biggest knife you're capable of carrying & using confidently in whatever task it is you have it for in the first place.
We say the exact same thing for our Firearm(s).
Is there anything wrong with Tipping "as services happen"?
EX: 7 day stay at the lodge and each day after Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner I'm able to have a 1 on 1 with the Cook, so I Tip the cook over and over (after every meal/snack/anything the cook prepares). The same applies to all other personnel...
Wonderful photos from everyone so far, I'd like to add a detail that might of been missed due to the short nature of the OP.
You do not have to be the hunter...I don't want to dull the flow of what's already coming!
Here is an example; clearly not me (however I would love to find information...
G'day
I have 'ressigned' myself to 'hunting online' for the largest trophies hunters have harvested so I can create a gallery.
This is a photo based thread.
Requirements are the animal must be harvested & presented (dead) no living animal photos please.
I have heard to many good things about 7x57R to deny it a spot and to confirm it's placement...I've heard very little (personally none) bad reports on the 7x57R...
I do not have one yet, I've sold all my gear to have one but... Krieghoff state "Approximately 8 1/2 lbs depending on wood density and caliber" (not inc. barrel insert for the 5.6x52R).
Not wanting to be that guy but anyway....
What about One Legged Sticks?
As an engineer & cnc machinist I've been thinking about machining my own from something a bit "more" than woods (an aerospace alloy), the idea came from the African Sporting Creations store online when I saw they have a 1...
As much as I like the less known but frequently nicer Drilling/Double makers like Peter Hoffer etc. and whilst I know that these individuals could make "basically anything" my budget isn't in the hundreds & thousands... which is practically always the case with these type of gunsmiths that make...
