Avoiding CTE, brain damage, retina injury etc with big bore rifles ?

There you go! Seriously, what you have described seems to obviously be sequela of TBI. It is easy to classify traumatic brain injuries as “minor” as long as it is not your brain! As mentioned, and I think the consensus will be, I would not screw around with it. The effects can be likely be...

Avoiding CTE, brain damage, retina injury etc with big bore rifles ?

Haaaa. Beat me to the punch/post. Slowly pecking away at a graduation ceremony. Oooof. Completely agree.

Avoiding CTE, brain damage, retina injury etc with big bore rifles ?

Immediate onset of headache that lingers for days would be enough for me to stop looking for answers to the .458 recoil and simply opt for a lesser recoiling chambering. Then again, I have a lot of quit in me. It truly appears your brain does not appreciate the recoil. I would likely opt for...

Tim Sundles 4 shots of 600 NE into Buffalo

It has been posted and discussed before. Placement, not .600 NE performance, is seemingly the issue.

    Custom M70 .458 Lott

Nice rifle! You should probably list weight and length of pull as well. I like your thought process. I was waiting for that other rifle to sell before I listed a couple AHRs as well. :-).

Hunting Ethics Of Taking Female Animals In Africa

You folks need to get with the times. There are more than two sexes/genders in the animal kingdom. :-). About the only whitetail I will shoot these days is an old dry doe that starts blowing and snorting and trying to alert every deer within earshot that something is amiss. Killing them brings...

    Neighbors

Punji sticks or Claymores. Go big right off the bat. Ooof. I know that is frustrating. Depending on where you live, shrubs could be a pin with initial cost and water requirements. I did do a hedge of viburnum (Texas) and that stuff was easy to establish and tough.

With the glass that is a solid deal as priced as long as the scratches etc. are not too extensive.

    What's your one favorite caliber?

True! My .257 STW is a CLOSE second to the .300 Jarrett.
  15. R

    What's your one favorite caliber?

.300 Jarrett is likely my favorite chambering. Really not much distinction between it and the 300 Weatherby, but the two rifles I have chambered in .300 Jarrett are exceptionally accurate. Guys who know a lot more about rifles than I do have explained how the case design is inherently accurate...

Odd that none of these pictures are truly representative of actual color, but I did prefer this stock to others. Straight and simple grain.

For Sale: Dakota Traveler - Take Down - 375H&H

Solid price on a Traveler. They are cool and I bet Parkwest could have another barrel/forend made, but heck, a single .375 will do it all.

Lynx 1.5-4.5x24 : Please tell me more about this rifle scope?

I know absolutely nothing about these, but found this quickly in a search on AH. . . "The Lynx scopes marketed in South Africa is, as I understand it, made by Sightron (I stand to be corrected). When I still lived in South Africa, I owned two of them at different times and they never gave me...

CZ 550 Safari Classic 458 Lott by AHR

Beautiful rifle. Hate to hear that wrist surgery is limiting you. Just don’t hold on tight—it will be fine. :-). GLWS.

    Which caliber is this?

I think you are correct. The shoulder is indeed wrong for .244 as well. Project just looks too small for .300. Maybe an illusion due to it being so short.
  27. R

    Which caliber is this?

My guess it is one of the David Lloyd .244 H&H magnums. As mentioned above, calipers will tell the tale.

    Good Gun Deals This Week

It may be for you. If I like something, I generally don’t think to much about the opinions of others. Well, unless the entire village points out I am a moron. The village has been correct before :) For someone just getting into collecting, you could buy 3 spectacular .375s in the ballpark for...

    Good Gun Deals This Week

Not for me, but someone will love it. Are you a collector (new) or a collector/hunter? As far as a scoped rifle for hunting, the drop on the stock is excessive. I don’t know anything about the engraver, but honestly, I think I have seen better lions at least from programmed engraving/etching...

HUNGARY: Roe Deer On The Hungarian Plain And Mouflon Of The Bakony Mountains - Or, How I Came To Despise A Bolt Action Equipped With A Suppressor

To really round out the rifle, it should have had a proper leather wrapped pad. :) Seriously looks like a great trip and excellent writing. Thanks for the recap.

    Which 375 to take?

Those more skilled than I can quickly reload No. 1s under pressure, but I would be much more comfortable with the 70. With the amount of money you are spending, and the safety of others as well, I would consider a solid 1-6, 1-8 etc.

LEFTY Granite Mountain Arms African Magnum Action $3000

Going to work out great. Already have it headed his way and it sounds like he is ready to roll on the build. I did break down and had to ship it, which I really don’t like doing, but sounds like it is going to a swell left-handed home.

    Stock Ideas for Mauser Project

Oh my goodness. My fault. I cannot believe I erred and stated Dennis “built” your rifle. I should have stated Dennis did some work on the rifle that YOU built. Stock Ideas for Mauser Project

Well, not a certainty, generally if a Smith is going to work his way through everything, the bolt knob, in my opinion, would be the last thing they would address. I bet feeding has been taken care of. I would buy a box of Hornady ammo, which seems to be the only readily available factory...
