One caliber away from contentment... who else?

So, for those shots a .243 would have been perfectly adequate, maybe even perfectly perfect or just right. Maybe the little .243 is the Goldilocks cartridge, it's just right. I think Bob will have to reconsider.

    Elk at 688 yards with a 243

Bob is in denial. He is shocked and stunned that the .243 can do so much more than he gives it credit for. Proofs in the pudding as Kassandra took the shot and nailed it. He met up with Russ who took his .425express and it turns out they were overgunned for the smaller deer that were present. I...

Effect of world war 3 on Hunting

It's our species that are the problem. The greedy bastards driving the war and the destruction are the bigger problem. It's got me wondering if North Korea reverse google the image of the little fat dicktator at the start do they find this thread? Just a thought, North Korea might be...

I would have to look to be sure but they may have been an FMJ but they are sold in boxes of 20 with retail packaging. My brother brought these as it's what he could get. Unfortunately he also brought S&B cases because we can't ship ammo. The Norma and PPUcases I've done are just fine. I have...

    Hi all!

G'day from Australia You are in the right place. Plenty of knowledge people here regarding the .375H&H and high end glass. I think there are a few using Leica when it comes to high end rifle scopes but it's one brand I have not had the opportunity to try.

Grumpy, I reckon the .280a.i. has a little pizzaz or class. I know those who use them regard them highly. My mate has gone back to one this last year but others I've spoken to rate them highly.

Whoever starts it, incites it or supports it should be the first person the rest of the world should target. If it happens to be a dictator or a terrorist then let the sh!t hail down on them and good riddance to them

High dollar dies for a newbie?

I will add to that it's not just knowing what you are doing but working out what gear you really need for you needs They refer to going down the rabbit hole. That proverbial rabbit hole is deep with many tunnels to sideline you . You can make accurate ammo with basic equipment. You can spend...

High dollar dies for a newbie?

Your straight wall sets or pistol cartridge sets should have a die with a tapered plug that puts a bell on the end of the case. The 2 die rifle set will have a full length size die that will have an expander ball that will be on the decaapping rod. It will slide into a fired case and the case...

Yes, many use those for those. My lengthy post got lost. Wilson and other high end target dies are not necessary for hunters. I use Hornady and Redding.

I've seen a video of his lad shooting it so Bob's gonna go ok. Shaun is much younger and fitter than Bob but Bob is a big boy. I wonder if Russell will be chasing a .35Whelen when he returns or are they actually shopping for a .243?

I shared a link with 2 good .243's, the Tikka sold quickly thought you must have snapped it up for yourself. I have some brass if he gets a .243 I thought the 6.5cm was supposed to be the pick of all the 6.5s according to the hype.

I remember the era when the sporterised 6.5x55 were available everywhere. Including both of the local shops we had at the time. I considered it but ended up with a second hand Zastava .308 with a synthetic stock. That's moved on but I have always had a .308 ever since.

Some people have no idea. I feel for them. I'm lucky I can do simple addition in my head but I'm not good with complicated equations. I'm not familiar with the US system. I guess the average Blue Collar worker here in Australia will get a tax return. But the person who can save a bit and...

Left-handed .308 for the wife- bolt gun

I kinda ended up with a few Tikkas by chance. One left to another. Wasn't fussed on all the plastic of the first T3 around 10 years ago but I got over it. I later bought a Tikka CTR with the shorter length of pull in 7mm-08, basically a Truck gun in US terms but has been great. I figure the...

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen this thread is quickly going from content to contempt if he does not have a purchase order. But with free dies coming and cases available it makes the .243 look like a viable option for a "Family Rifle".
