I do, I have a 50 B&M with a Maple stock and stainless.........I also have a 416 B&M with Myrtle and stainless. But, I am not at my computer, and don’t have access to my photos here at the boat. On IPad.......... I can post some when I get back home but that is going to be tomorrow or...
Yes, that one is seriously turned color........
I am not at my computer now, but I could show you a couple of photos of other Myrtle stocks that turned. I prefer them to stay original color like the one above. Hoping with the high gloss finish it will hold, it should since it is sealed...
THanks, not really new, I retired from hunting in 2014 and used the first 500 B&M in the field for buffalo............ So the cartridge has been around, but its not in the B&M lineup of Standard cartridges. I also have a 2.5 inch 458, the 458 B&M EX, which is the same 2.5 inch RUM case...
I knew it wouldn’t be long you would pitch up with that Myrtle stock! HEH......... I got the Idea of Myrtle when AI was still in South Dakota, before Wes, and You were probably still in diapers........ LOL................. HEH
Wes has done incredible since taking over AI........ A HUGE...
Hey Dave, yes, I know, in contact with Chris about every other day at least. What a fine fellow, I have taken to him very well. Sent him a few care packages as well..............
Its not really part of the B&M line up. I own both rifles in 500 B&M, personal guns.
I think we posted about the same time, and you did not see the post above yours. Energy? Have no clue, never pay much attention to that, its bullet design and reasonable velocity in which that bullet...
Capable of 450 CEB Raptors or 450 North Forks at 2400 fps, 410 Raptors at 2500 fps and 500 gr CEB Solids at 2250 fps............. Excellent Buffalo, hippo and elephant................Weighs in at 8.25 lbs........
Cartridge is in between 50 B&M at 2.25 inches which is WSM short action, and the...
The 500 B&M is not in the standard line up of B&M Cartridges. It is or was more of an experiment and something to play with. The 500 MDM is a 2.8 inch RUM case, at .500 caliber. The 500 B&M is a 2.5 inch RUM case. Both designed for the Winchester M70 RUM Control Feed action, long...
First, I am assuming the gun you want to convert is a Control Feed gun.......... If so, Brian at SSK can sort the left side out pretty easy, some minor adjustments should do it, and yes, a different follower might just do the trick the easy way...... Something Brian can sort out for you I am...
Toby....... If you do anything with that M70 you have, do 458 Winchester. I believe I recall it being 7mm Remington? If so, you do not want to go with a fatter case than what the magazine box is designed to work with, you will have endless issues with it retaining and feeding properly. You...
Hey Milehigh..... Good to hear of you. Yes, long time ago for sure........... As you know, I quit AR many years ago, just way too much argument and disagreeable folks there at that time.....I have not posted on a public forum very much since then. This is the only public forum I have posted...
As for recoil it is hard to say really. I have shot 1000s of rounds in both 458 Win, 458 Lott and 458 B&M. I would have to say honestly that the 458 B&M is easier to shoot, and one would not think so. All my wood stocked B&Ms are with Accurate Innovations stocks. Has the full length...
I can't tell you for sure to be 100% honest. Doing pressure work and load data on both, the 20 inch 458 B&M is overall equal to a 24 inch 458 Winchester, with the same bullet, same velocity at or near the same pressures. The RUM cases that the B&Ms are made on can run slightly more pressure...
Oh yes, all the first guns were 20 inches and that is what is standard. You only get a 18 or 19 if you request it. Velocity difference depends on various powders, but for the larger weight bullets it is normally 40-50 fps total difference between 18 and 20 inches........
The rifle I use to...
Toby..... With todays premium bullets in 458 caliber, both 458 Winchester and 458 Lott are enhanced, there is absolutely zero reason to go to 500 gr or heavier in .458 caliber, regardless of cartridge capacity. When you exit broadside elephant, how much more do you want? For absolute zero...
Yes, in most cases. But in most cases it is different powders. For instance, in 458 Winchester, 450 gr weight class AA/2230, IMR 8208, X-Terminator and V-N530 give the best results, highest velocity and lowest pressures. In 458 B&M the 450 Weight Class excels with TAC, AA 2520, and...
Hi Jake...... Yeah, you need to get down visit with Billy some for sure, I have taken a peak at the Carolina's forum, but never joined, there is no big bore rifle stuff there... LOL...... But Billy loves it, and has made many really good friends over there...........You will have to make a plan...
I have a 18 inch 458 B&M, Very Nice Accurate Innovations Bastogne Walnut Stock, finish is GunKote Matte Black. It came in light, by 1/2 lb better than most in that same category with wood. It is an absolute dream to hunt with, it is short, light, extremely handy, and extremely fast on target. No...
We were hunting croc, skirting Lake Kariba about 75 yards inside of shoreline we woke up a large bull hippo that was taking a nap, on the other side of us. Leaving us between Mr. Hippo and the water... not good. I had a 250 Socom up the spout, and did not wish to draw too much attention to...

HEH HEH......... I don't get over here a lot, but was here this morning doing some research on another matter, and here we are...... LOL..... Hi Phil and Paul........ Good Morning Toby, and Jake..... Jake knows Billy.... But I don't think I know Jake. I assume Jake has been down to visit...
Hi Panielsen..... Truth of the matter the Hornady DGX does not have a good rep in the real world. When Hornady started with the "inter bond" in the big bores, and followed with the DGX, they worked the same. I tested several 458 500 Interbonds in the day, and to a bullet they wipe the nose...
matt........ Yes, my statement might very well be considered bold by some, and fact of the matter, I can back it up every word of it should I desire.
I have shot many a buffalo with Woodleigh Softs, and they have done a good job for a conventional soft. Running at velocities not exceeding...
For me, nostalgia has no place when hunting dangerous game, not when it comes to bullet choice. That is merely a game for amateurs. But good luck on those endeavors, and you will always have a professional there to sort out the mess you make. Hopefully no one gets hurt playing that game...
Panielsen..... I understand Nostalgia, and such as that very well. But in truth nostalgia needs to be kept to the range and paper targets. In the field there is much at stake and one needs to use the very best bullet available for the mission at hand. Regardless of what has worked a 100...
Todays modern bullet tech pretty much blows all conventional wisdom out the door, and then some. I have been shooting 458s for a long time now. You will never in your life come up short on any mission you ever take your 458 Winchester on, as long as you choose the right bullets for it...
In performance there is no comparison between RN and FN solids. I will go a step beyond what both Paul and Mike have said, If your rifle won't feed a flat nose solid of your choice, go to the gunsmith, have it fixed to where it does feed without issues. You want that performance of the Flat...
Mike
Hi Buddy! Concerning the "NO ROUNDNOSE SOLIDS" in my rifles, I have not sent that paper work to Paul yet, but the clause is in there, and he MUST sign off on this before I ship the rifles to the exporter!
There will be NO days that a round nose solid will POLLUTE the bores of one...
Ok, now would like to address a couple of other things I saw reading through the thread. Paul mentions 3 down +1. Well, this can be done, but snapping over the extractor in a control feed gun I am not so keen on. Myself I always put 3 down, work from the magazine to keep from putting...
Good Day all, I am here at Pauls request, maybe to answer some questions for you. One has been head stamped brass for the B&Ms and the MDM. Yes, it is available, right now I have stocked some brass from Quality Cartridge. I have had some issues with some of this brass, mostly in the 500...
