What was your first African Animal?

Greater Kudu at 30 yds in a treestand we had put up earlier that morning. The bull fell within sight. …28 years ago

    Gunfighter pistol

Those are original grips; made of hard rubber or Gutta-Percha. Looks awesome. Probably.44-40 as others say. No reason not to shoot it once it’s been gone over by a competent pistol smith. Ed Z

For Sale Custom Paul Jaeger 22-250 with 20x Lyman Super Targetspot Scope

That .243 is good when the wind picks up. The rifle came with a 15x Unertl but I swapped for a Leupold 15x fine crosshair and dot. I honestly need to spend more time dialing-in some different loads. I've hunted Black Gap WMA a couple times over the years. It's wide open country, for sure...

For Sale Custom Paul Jaeger 22-250 with 20x Lyman Super Targetspot Scope

To tag along on this thread, I have a similar Jaeger- built rifle in .243. Sako L579 action, heavy taper-bullish bbl, beaver tail forend, Canjar single set trigger, single shot magazine configuration. I shot my share of north Texas prairie dogs with it. I can post more pictures if anyone is...

    A Bentley for the Bush

That’s so awesome Well done! Ed Z …I also enjoyed the “safety 3rd” approach with the open cutting wheel and no safety goggles :)

    Stalking safety

My Adams&Co .577BPE hammer double has stalking safeties. They only engage the back of the hammers at 1/2 cock not at full cock, which adds an extra step when very close to game. I wish mine engaged at full cock. Ed Z

SOUTH AFRICA: Zingela-Limpopo Safaris - How Poor Management Ruined An Otherwise Promising Safari

I was in camp that week. We definitely ate what we shot. As I stated earlier in this thread, the stuffed Impala backstrap was absolutely delicious and the pan-fried impala steaks were cooked to perfection. I didn't keep a journal of meals, but I think I remember Gemsbok sometime on the menu...

    Jo-burg Hotels

No sir. I only know that Afton and Mr X saved my bacon this trip. My PH got me to the airport with an hour and 20 minutes to check bags and rifles to Namibia. I missed my flight… the bags then had to be pulled from the plane and all of it got hung up with the rifles and checked ammo. Mr X saw...

    Jo-burg Hotels

My vote goes to Afton, hands down. I just spent the night and then the afternoon a couple days later when I traveled to Namibia out of RSA. I was only visiting old friends in Namibia and didn’t plan to hunt. Afton held my rifles and ammo in their vault while I was gone. They pick me up and hand...

Paul Jaeger custom 22-250 value question, opinions wanted

Wow… I have that identical Paul Jaeger rifle in .243 !!! Mine came with a 15x Unertl. I put a 16x Leupold on it. I think I paid around $1500 at an online auction probably 10 years ago…? Ed Z

SOUTH AFRICA: Zingela-Limpopo Safaris - How Poor Management Ruined An Otherwise Promising Safari

Hmmmmm…I was the other hunter in the Zingela camp. My opinion of camp life that week is definitely different. I wasn’t expecting the place to myself but I also wasn’t told otherwise. My PH of 27 years operates a good deal with Zingela and finds it to be one of the best bow hunting operations...
