Thanks for that info. I will reach out to Thunder Beast Arms again to see if their position has changed from 2018 when they wrote "We have released a few of the 1/2x28 versions for only special and approved applications, which any magnum would not be."
Is that thread pitch correct? I've had TBAC tell me they do not recommend and will not support any use of 1/2x28 threaded adapters for magnum cartridges. The R8 barrels I've had threaded were all done at 9/16x24.
Also, any pics of the case? How many scopes fit in it? 2 as well?
Working with Coppersmith for customs clearance and African Trophy Exports is the shipper. I have two full quotes from African Trophy Exports with all landside costs in SA, the Freight charges, and Admin charges. The crate is not that large at just 4'x4'x6' as almost all the animals were Tiny...
A crate is ready with my trophies from two trips last year. I asked for quote for both Air and Sea shipping options. The sea option has a 45 day estimated transit time and likely ship loading will be end of Feb. I'm not in any rush for these trophies as I still need to figure out where to mount...
not yet, I have not fully relieved the stock enough for it to fit. Couldn't find a good overhead view pic, but I grabbed this other one and circled in red the area where I'm needing to make more space. The Proof barrel is much wider in this area than the Blaser factory ones. as they don't really...
Try the Hornady Precision Hunter ELD-X ammo. I found that very accurate in a 7PRC rifle.
I think you picked good components there. I've not tried the American Gen II. I just shot someone's Gen I at the range one day. I didn't find the action or trigger quite as nice as Tikka, but it's not bad...
You're right that I wouldn't use it all on every trip, its more of being able to if I wanted or the trip justified it. I've taken 3 barrels on two previous trips - 6.5 PRC, 300WM, and 375 H&H. 6.5 PRC for greater distance, 300WM for larger like Eland, and 375 for buff. I don't take all 3 on all...
I worked through an FFL to import an Akila Excelsior chassis for my R8. I like that its lighter weight than profession stock, has more of a vertical grip like my target rifles, and it has integrated ARCA rail/picatinny rail/Javelin bipod mounts all smoothly integrated in the fore-end. Being a...
I had a PM asking about it so wanted to update here to be clear - Tip will relieve your stock to fit the barrel if you don't feel comfortable doing yourself, but there is a charge for it. I can't recall the amount since when we talked we were more focused on being able to do it myself.
