    Bison tosses man at Yellowstone

Usually I am amused at the bison/tourist incidents but this was totally on the bull. He should be burger.

    Stopping by Swift Bullet today

I get all this speculation on why A-Frames are so limited but the people buying bullets are not the types who will just jump back and forth from brand to brand on availability. As far as commercially loaded ammo goes, I won’t use it to hunt with and when I do buy a box, it’s for the brass. I...

    Stopping by Swift Bullet today

When their office called me to inform me production on 458’s was about to begin and I asked if doubling my order would be possible. She had the owner’s son standing there with her and their exchange gave me the impression that the run was primarily based on orders already set before production...

    Stopping by Swift Bullet today

With the difficulty in getting the heavy A-frames I did something on this present run of 458’s that I normally don’t do. I got what should last me the rest of my days. After purchasing an auction certificate at SCI, I waited 17 months for the 458 bullets. So, when they called to let me know they...

    .375 H&H for Lower 48 Game

I don’t have as much meat loss with my buffalo load pushing an A-frame at 2500fps as I do with my old 7mm and 30 cal deer loads. The jacket on that bullet, for that caliber is perfect. Opens on big stuff but not so much on smaller game.

MOZAMBIQUE: Mozambique TSALA HUNTING SAFARIS June 2026

You’re one tough ole bird gritting that one out. Fabulous trophies and memories. And to think, a lot of people say hunting Africa isn’t really hunting. Great story.

    Swift A-Frame

Just went to North Fork to purchase 458 ss in 450 or 500…both unavailable.

A Letter From Peter Hathaway Capstik

Bugger the haters. I loved his books as a boy and they ignited my interest in going on safari. Great prize you have there.

    Swift A-Frame

Lol. Larger calibers are mostly unobtainium. I bought an auction certificate through the SCI convention over a year ago and want 458 A-frames but still don’t have any. I think I’m going to end up filling it with other calibers and just make the move to Barness and North Forks on the 458. Great...

    Buffaloes are tough

My take from your stats are that frontal shots are a poor choice. Many safari videos also support this. The obvious is the same. First shot needs to be well placed. If that shot can’t be made with a scoped 375 due to poor shot choice or shooter’s ability then the likelihood of a larger caliber...

    Traveling with Soft Cases

I don’t use a soft case at all. I would suggest a case style scabbard. Same size, offers more protection and is the bomb on the back of the truck. The straps allow you to mount the scabbard any number of ways on the truck. I use a pelican with uncut foam top and bottom but not full thickness...

I just added another Big Bore to the Family - a Kimber 375 H&H

The “what qualifies for the label big bore” is always entertaining. To me, it seems easier to draw the line at what is the smallest caliber you’re safe to take elephant hunting anywhere, regardless of caliber restrictions. Or maybe leaving the title to only calibers used for stopping rifles but...

What Are The Biggest Threats To Hunting Poll1/2

What I’ve seen is a disturbing trend away from hunting culturally. When I was in school small game was plentiful and it seemed everyone hunted. The Monday after the opening day of squirrel season required, to be socially acceptable with your peers in grade school, that you took the tail from...

    Who wears shorts on Safari?

Nope. Wore shorts as a teenager when I spent my summer days fishing. Shorts were never allowed nor wise for me in the world of work so I don’t wear them at all anymore. I wear double faced tan pants. Ticks have been an issue where I have hunted and while others wash their cuts and scratches and...

    Sighting in double rifle

I get your feelings on double triggers. Lots of people have trouble with double triggers and as someone who has used them my whole life it’s hard to fathom. It’s so natural to me that with a double shotgun hunting pheasant I prefer skeet or cylinder in the right and full in the left. If a bird...
