SOUTH AFRICA: Hunt Of A Lifetime With TSALA HUNTING SAFARIS With My New 450-400 Double Rifle

Gorgeous bull, wonderful write-up! Can’t wait to hear the rest. It’s awesome seeing it all in my mind’s eye, colored bright with your enthusiasm :)

    Greetings, Fellow Adventurers!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I’ll pass on your appreciation to my buddies still getting after it ;) As for the “ vulgarity”, I look forward to it!

    USA: My Best Nilgai

A little more toward the subject of your hunt: Do you think One could get close enough to a Nilgai in that terrain to use a .500 A2? I’m contemplating the CEB 350 safari raptors with the plastic tip inserts. Which should bring the B.C. up a bit to .3-something, going 2800+. Thoughts...

If we wanted to do that with current ROE, it would have to be illumination

    Greetings, Fellow Adventurers!

We’ll join forces on more than a few topics, I’m sure! It was my second time at sill (after OBC) that I got drawn, and I never had success with any other species on Sill. Classic case of “win some, lose some”

The 75th is still kicking butt and taking names, as I’m sure it was with you at the helm. Col. Carpenter was in command when I was there, an exceptional mentor. I don’t even want to think about maintaining 27 launchers, 16 was more than enough!

    USA: My Best Nilgai

It’s a small world! I did my CPT time in 3-13 at Sill (resisting the overwhelming urge to say “Sir”). I wish you’d gotten a chance at one of the elk there. It was a fantastic hunt! I’ll start working on convincing my wife we need to hunt there. She loves goat, so audad may be the easiest way in.

    Greetings, Fellow Adventurers!

Thank you! I don’t think so, but can’t be sure. It isn’t marked as such. It has a fiberglass stock, Mercury recoil reducer in the butt. Barrel is 25”, plus a blended in brake. The trigger has obviously been worked over(clean~3lbs). The scope is a 2xleupold M8 handgun scope, forward mounted.

    Greetings, Fellow Adventurers!

Ya know… I hadn’t considered that. Lol! I do have others: .20Tac, .223, 260 rem, .308win,.30-06… pistols, muzzleloaders, shotguns. I suppose one of those could be pressed into service in a pinch ;) I’ve had a great time hunting moose, caribou, grizzly (all unsuccessfully, though I did manage to...

    Greetings, Fellow Adventurers!

That’s awesome! I love going to the Apple Festival in Hendersonville. The rifle is super neat, I got it second hand up in Fairbanks, AK. A guy had it built as a grizzly/moose stopper since he lived out in the bush, but couldn’t find ammo anymore and sold it to me.
