You are correct sir. My only other Mauser is a WW 2 relic in 8mm that loads with stripper clips. The gunsmith chuckled but was polite. All for free.

I got to the problem of my 30-06 not loading and feel like an idiot. I was trying to load one at a time and not engaging the magazine. Occam's Razor at its finest. Thanks to all for your great comments.

Unfortunately I am not "that Uncle Mike" or I would send you a bunch of stuff for the like comment. Just a guy named Mike that is an uncle. Still working on my issue. Think it is time for a trip to the gunsmith.

Thanks for the helpful comments. I did mic the diameter of both cartridges at the neck and found the one that won't load the Rem165 gr core-lokt PSP is .315 diameter while the round that loads a Rem 150 gr bronze point is .310. What should it be? Obviously not a gunsmith so my terminology...

I have a H&R in 30-06 mauser action that will not chamber Rem core lokt 165 gr PSP. It will chamber Rem 150 gr bronze point. Easy answer is don't use the former but what gives?The neck appears to be slightly larger on 165 gr but total cartridge length is shorter.
